Should I wait to apply for SPG?

My reported balances on cr

Amex 925/6700
Wellsfargo 0/2200
Discover 163/750

I got a cli from discover before this last statement closed. It went to 1500, and I let the statement close with a $0 balance. The discover statement closed on the 10th, and it still has not reported, but I am ready to apply.

My intentions were to have 1 act with a balance, and the other 2 have a zero. I have had my Amex since last November. Should I continue to wait or just go for it?

Re: Should I wait to apply for SPG?

You're at 11% utilization.  Best practice when applying is to have less than 10, if not less than 5.

I'd wait a month if you do not have in immediate need for the new card.

733 TU (08/21/2013)
Amex BCE($20,000): 3% Groceries - 2% Gas - 2% Department Stores
US Bank Cash+($9,500): 5% Fast Food - 5% Cellphones - 2% Resteraunts
Chase Freedom($4000): 5% Rotating
CapOne QuickSilver($30,000): 1.5% Everything
Citi Double Cash($12,500): 2% Everything.
Lowes($2,400) 5% off Lowes.

Re: Should I wait to apply for SPG?

If you get denied you can't try again for 6 months. I definitely had higher UTIL then 11% when approved but as always AMEX is a tricky ------ ! So YMMV!

Trans Union Fico (Walmart) ,690 Experian Fico (Amex) 686(Opened 3 new accounts this month. In the Garden)

AMEX BCE ($19,500) AMEX PRG -(NPSL), BARCLAYS US AIR PREMIER WORLD ($10,000), BOA CASH REWARD -($6,000), CITI HILTON RESERVE SIGGY-(5,000), WALMART DISCOVER ( $5,800), CITI DIAMOND ($4,700), CITI DIVIDED WORLD ($4,500), AMAZON STORE($5,000), NORDSTROM VISA SIG($5,000), PAYPAL STORE ($4,000) Amex Delta Gold ($2000)

I think you are good to go, it's been more than 6 months since your last Amex and I am pretty confident you will be aproved for the SPG. Of course, you would only app if you need the card. GL Smiley Happy

Of course I need the card. I need the points Smiley Wink

I don't recall hearing anything about having to wait 6 months of denied. I thought it was 30 days.

My next question: the discover statement closed on the 10th and has yet to update. This is unusual for it to take this long. How much longer should I have to wait? If it isn't updated by tomorrow should I just bite the bullet? I am pretty confident it wouldn't be a problem even with 2 cards reporting a balance but always better to be safe.

I would just wait it out until your utilization is below 10%!

How many accounts did you have this utilization spread over when applying for amex?

Re: Should I wait to apply for SPG?

Alright everybody. After refreshing my credit again today and seeing discover still has not updated my balance I just became very irritated an applied for the SPG. Instant approval with a 2k cl.

NOW, I have a 6700 cl on my bcp, should I reallocate then request an increase in 61 days on the SPG?
