Should I?

I logged into my chase account just a few minutes ago and saw I had offers for the first time... 1 for the freedom and 1 for the slate, solid apr’s on both. I’m definitely over the 5/24 rule but I’m wondering if I should poke the bear any way...

Re: Should I?

I would suggest working with the CSP for a while.

When do you achieve 5/24?

When you take the time to use the CSP and build up your internal Chase score, those cards will be there later.

Well, Slate won't be there later, but there's no benefit to that card anyhow.

Re: Should I?

I’m 5/24 already and it’ll be 2 years before I’m under. The CSP has an 18.7k limit and I’ve never gotten it above 1.6k... honestly I’d be more interested in growing that trade line than adding another but I’ve read a lot here about how the freedom / freedom unlimited rounds out the CSP pretty well.

Re: Should I?

Congratulations on your offer.

As stated above, those offers should still be there. It would be prudent to let your newest account age for a bit. Data Points show Chase can be sensitive to credit seeking behavior. Some can poke the bear. Others, suffer adverse action and get credit cards closed.

Re: Should I?

I’m going to pass, on apping for any thing for a while I’ve recently bought a new truck and the inq’s are high and I’m definitely over the 5/24 by a few with credit cards. I don’t want AA of any kind.

Re: Should I?

If I'm reading your signature correctly and you got CSP a month and a half ago, it's really simple answer.
Dont apply if you want to keep it

Re: Should I?

I am having a hard time reading the OP's signature however it seams like they are actually under 5/24. To be exact it looks like they are at 4/24. Chase counts actual credit card accounts and not inquiries as part of 5/24. So the auto loan does not count and the US Bank inquiries look like one was a CLI and not an account. I recommend you double check.

For example I had a card app with Wells Fargo and they told me to take a hike. They did add a HP but no account. In the case of 5/24 this app does not count against it as I never got the account and the only issue will be the extra HP will reduce the quality of my terms in the future.
