Since I Opted Back In

The only offers I have received are from BofA. The curious thing is my BK makes it impossible to get any unsecured card from them. These are obviously just a part of their mass mailing campaigns. They can't possibly be getting any info off my credit reports since the BK is an automatic disqualifier.

They must be in aggressive get more accounts mode. I would apply with them if I wanted more tradelines. Just a heads up.

Re: Since I Opted Back In

I get the mailings from them too (and affiliated FIA/BofA cards) and can't understand. I've paid everything negative on my report (all of which happened in the few months after 9/11 when I lost my job -- spent the last 6-7 years cleaning up), EXCEPT two cards: MBNA and BofA. Those were charged off. The BofA one still lists, but falls off in one month (!). Still, I wonder what they're thinking, as I can't possibly be a good candidate for them (I actually am nowadays, but given the old history, not).

Re: Since I Opted Back In

I think you're right.
They recently approved me and have never had any "offers" for my, including their secured product...
Goal: acquire and use Credit Cards, scores in the 700's in 2009

06/21/09 FICOS: EQ = 692; TU = 729; EX = 731 (CCT FAKO)
10/03/11 FICO EQ = 722 (CCT EQ = 749)

Re: Since I Opted Back In

I opted back in a couple of months ago and have received NOTHING - no offers from anyone. I'm thinking something must've gone a bit wrong with the opting in, as surely I'd be getting the usual 3 offers a week for a Capital One Platinum Visa (which they never stopped sending me despite the fact I already have that card) plus the shady-looking uber-subprime stuff that used to show up on a weekly basis.

I was thinking that after I opted back in, I'd find at least something showing up on the BofA pre-app page (I don't even want a card with them, I'm just interested to see what I might be able to get if I DID want one!)... but nope, nada.

Interesting theory that they're in 'get as many new accounts as possible' mode - not that I'm going to test the theory by applying, but that's good to know for anyone who might be wanting one of their cards!

Re: Since I Opted Back In

I opted back in, preapproval links started to work after only about a week and they never worked before so I know it was from that.  The only offers I got were from junk debt collectors. Smiley Very Happy

Needless to say, I opted back out, preapproval links don't work anymore, but I don't care

Yeah... the reason I opted back in was because I thought 'well, I might start appealing to GOOD credit card companies now my scores are better, accounts a bit older, etc... it would be a shame if I never even knew!' - but I have a feeling that if I ever do start getting offer letters in the mail again, they're going to be the kind that remind me exactly why I opted out in the first place!! Re: Since I Opted Back In

Cheer up, my first mailed pre-app after opting back in was offering a deal on low-APR roof guttering, oh yay. Smiley Happy

I'm finally starting to get Discover and AmEx stuff, but I also still get WaMu and the plain-Jane Chase plat. It's fun to save them and try to read their minds. No HSBC, I really don't want your GM card. Seriously.
