6 months ago I was staring at a FICO of 598 (across the board). 0 credit cards, 1 collection that I paid immediately after finding out I had it. And literally nothing else on my credit report. Nothing good, only 1 bad. I guess no bad is good, but no good can be just as bad. Anyway. 6 months 2 secured cards later, scores are 683, 697, and 713. As soon as one of my scores went over 700, I apped for some cards and here are the results:
Chase Freedom: Instant online approval $1500
Discover More: Instant online approval $1000
Citi Forward: I haven't been denied yet. It's been a few days since I apped and finally today when I called they said they mailed me a letter asking for income verification and I have to send that in when I get it.
Does it appear that I'm likely to get Citi Forward and be 3/3 ? I tried to recon on the CLs I listed above, but was unsuccessfull. Don't really care though. A foot in the door is better than no foot at all. Even 2/3 would be a major success for me.
Congrats on the approvals! Nice start to your wallet!

For data purposes, here's some other current stats:
At the time of spree I had a Capital One secured card with CL $671, 0 balance, 8 months old, and a BofA secured card with CL $300, 0 balance, 6 months old.
EX - 3 inqs
EQ - 1 inq
TU - 0 inq
When I was a college freshman right out of highschool, I had 2 unsecured cards, and messed up my credit with those, eventually had a repossesion, and several collections. I'm 31 now, and since then, literally everything has fallen off my credit report. I have one paid colelction account from when BofA stuck me with an overdraft fee that I refused to pay because I was never really overdraft, hence the current class action lawsuit against them. Obviously cleaned up since then and interested in creating a decent credit profile, since it matters to me now.
I am bout to reach 6 months with my Capital One Cash Rewards card. My balances are zero and I always pay in full. This is my first credit card so I don't have fico scores until I reach the six month mark. Do you think I have a shot with AMEX Zync or Citi Forward? My Cap One limit is 750.00
As long as the rest of your credit profile looks good and scores are populated (and decent). When you have as little credit as I do, one too many baddies will be the difference between denial and approval. My credit profile makes it appear as if I am new to credit altogether except that I have that oen baddie.
My situation is the same, except I am just starting and have nothing bad on my record. I just am wondering if six months is enough credit history to start being approved for better cards? I don't want to waste inquiries if I will just be denied for a short history, but on the other hand if I can qualify for better cards like zync and forward I would like to have them sooner rather than later. Thoughts anyone?

You should be fine. I have a friend who started with one CapitalOne credit card with a $500 limit, always paid in full, and only had two inquiries and after her 6th statement cut she applied and got approved for the Discover More $1000 CL, AMEX Zync, the Citi Forward (don't remember what the limit is). So I'd say give it a shot ![]()
So back to my question, does the outcome on my current Citi Forward status look good or is that card maybe more difficult to obtain? My post seems to have been hijacked.
Wow that would be great. I see no real use for Discover to be honest if you can get a visa/mastercard and amex. Forward and Zync approvals would be great!
