So, Discover doesn't do recons..

I applied for the Discover IT card last night, it was the last card I decided to do on my "mimi-app" spree. I was declined, and called them this morning. I called the recon number that was posted in the backdoor thread.

The lady I talked to said she can only discuss why I was denied, and the best I can do is reapply in 45 days. No chance of a reconsideration over the phone.

Welcome to the forum! Sorry that you were declined. Sounds like the rep you called was not budging. I myself was able to turn over a denial - so Im not sure what happened in your case. Perhaps their reasons -could not be turned over based on your credit profile/criteria.

Do you mind sharing those reasons?

I called another number posted in a thread about a successful recon story with Discover. I talked to a british woman, who's name I can't recall at the moment. She said due to my limited credit history (four months) they can't approve me at this time. That's fair I guess. It's better to know then just be denied.

It's weird though that Chase and Capital One both approved me right away, no recon necessary.

Oh well, it was a learning experience, now it's garden time.

Knowing is better than just a denial. Cap one and Chase will get you building a great cr profile.

I hope so. I am figuring in the next five years I will be looking for a house. So I hope I am giving myself enough time to build. We'll see.

you are doing a great job and that is more than enough time. Eventually your limits will grow and you will be able to get better cards. Like they say its a marathon and not a race when it comes to credit...Smiley Happy
