So I just got 4 letters from American Express in the mail today.

Four separate letters saying that I can get a " free gift " if I enter some club and will get billed monthly if I don't cancel after a certain amount of time. I used to think this company was different than the others, they are no better than Capital One. Once I more credit limit increases on my other credit cards I am going to cancel my Gold and Clear cards, especially about hearing stories about their random financial reviews.

People bash Discover but they are miles ahead of American Express.

I got 2 of those today myself. I normally get about 1 per week.

Today's letters offered me a free companion airfare ticket if I sign up. Its tempinging, but I probably won't do it.

It really is ridiculous, especially when mail can get delivered to a wrong address and people can just screw with me.

Have you checked your settings in your profile in terms of what they can contact you about?  I used to get very little of this stuff.  Recently I signed up to get a lot more of their solicitations because I wanted to get targeted for offers I might want to take advantage of.  I now get all sorts of crap like what you are describing.  Try going into your profile and changing the settings.  You might find you don't get nearly as much junk.
