So if I always pay before statement cut?

So i pay weekly and $0.00 reports, is this bad? Is this hurting my score?

Do it look like I never use my credit cards? I will start to try to have a balance report but then I have to remeber a due date versus just paying it.

The rule of thumb is to have 1%-9% reporting on a card.  That will also let the naysayers know you are using your card and also helps maximize your score...

That's ok to do that. Jst leave couple dollars if your only card.  Then pay it after statement. If you got multiple cards. Leav just a dollar on a card. Then pay after statement. Long as you pay. Does not matter how often.

Unless you are planning on applying, all you are doing is giving away your grace period.

Re: So if I always pay before statement cut?

I don't need the grace period. Lol
When I was 19 yrs old it got outa hand. Luckily I had only a 1.5k limit.
I use all my cards strictly for rewards and don't buy things I cannot afford/don't need.

I'm a financial advisor and every day I see people in so much debt it's crazy. I don't want that to ever be me.

Re: So if I always pay before statement cut?

I wanted to say that I always use EQ services and monitoring and come here and pay for the 3 credit bureau report every 3/4 months.  The EQ site was experiencing some issues the other night.  I was looking over my reports & noticed a slightly different report than before?  All the cards that I have not used in 4 months were showing N/A for that period.  Which leads me to believe that your score will drop.  Never seen this before anywhere.  All the cards I've been currently using were all reporting as usual.  I'm going to use every card at least once a month, even if I only put $50.00 on it just to see if my score goes up.  I normally concentrate on a few cards at a time & try to get a higher CL for those.  But since seeing that, I just wonder if it does make a difference?  Mind you, it might not make a difference if you only have 3/4 cards and SD one of them.  But with many cards, the score change could be significant.

But yes I have used walmart or usaa in months so I'm gonna try to put something on them and let em report to see what happens to my scores

I learned the hard way that leaving less than 1% on a card utilization rounds down to 0%.  I think you need to leave at least 1% to maximize your monthly score.  Probably only relevant for those planning to apply for something; otherwise, it's not worth the micro-managing.

it is OK not to have any balance report sometimes but every now and then you should leave a few dollars to pay after the statement cut date.

Yea. I need to send some secure messages and figure out when my statement cut dates are. Gonna make a spreadsheet so I can keep up with everything
