Live in NYC so I decided to go to a branch to pay my CC bills in full , but I learned today that there is a new policy that wen into effect. The manager of the branch said that we are no longer allowed to pay more than a certain balance anymore. Meaning if my bill is 900 I can't pay 1200 instead to cover any pending charges a have, it has to be either the minimum you owe or balance+ 10% of the balance u owe, you can't pay more than that.
I'm not sure when that policy went into effect, but I recall that happening to me when I played the utilization game in the past year! The online payments have had this policy for a while, I guess maybe they're trying to put it into effect for in-branch payments as well!
I learned this online today as I have my first payment due and tried to pay the current balance. It only let me enter the statement balance. I didn't try to add 100%. -Barry
I discovered the same thing a few weeks ago. My workaround is pushing my payments through my CU (NFCU). It's awesome b/c it's done electronically and posts in a day or two.
and at least in my case, chase will 100% decline any transaction made from a gun store even with their debit card!
I knew about the online aspect, but in the bank seems weird to me.

Yeah, seems weird to me that, they said it's a new policy now for branch payment too, I usually like to pay $100/200 extra to cover any pending charges that hasn't postedyet and forget about it, but now I can't do that.

Thats interesting. I purchased a gun a few months ago with mine and had no issues at all.
