I did the shopping cart trick and got the Sportsmans Guide Visa in the first days of June and I have been pulling my credit reports daily for over a month now.

I know it hasnt been that long since I got it, but I have not seen a HP on any report yet, so I have to assume its still a SP.

My SGV was a SP as well when I received the SCT.  I was approved for $5K Instant.

Ok guess it is a SP then. I don't know personally all I have from Comenity is store cards. I thought I saw someone posting that it was HP now.

I've seen some posts like that as well, I think they are speculating and spreading BS, I got a Sportsmans Guide a few weeks ago, NO hard inquiry here.

Re: Sportsman's guide Visa question

Hello All,

I end up calling the number they list on the App today but I got a message saying everyone was busy. I left my number and they called back when i was at my day job. They just told me to call them back again. Guess we will play phone tag for a while.  I'm going to tell them something like by force of habit I put my old address and got the pop up, this is my new address and I still want the card. If they look at my report it dose have my new address and my PO box. It just has them listed in the wrong order. If I fail at the I might apply and let the post office forward my mail. I'll just fill out the form online again from the post office like I just moved.

It seems like if you get a card from the SCT its a soft pull but if you apply right on the site its a hard pull. I would consider  the hard pull but I'm gunning for a few other cards this year and do not want to change it.    I just shop at sportsman's guide a lot so i wanted the card, last year to the tune of 2500$.

I will update after I talk with them. For future reference.

I'm not clear about if you have already accepted the popup offer or not.  I'm guessing no, otherwise you would have put your USPS change of address form in pronto already.  So far you've just said that's still a possibility.

If you do what you are suggesting (and if I'm following you), it will essentially be an app by phone and I would expect a hard pull.  I don't think they're going to care that you got the popup and it would have been a soft pull had your address been correct.

That may be true, it would explain all of the conflicting reports about hard pulls and soft pulls. I got mine via the shopping cart trick, with preapproval for a soft pull. Perhaps if you go right to the site and apply without preapproval maybe that is where they are getting the hard pulls.

On another note, my card reported on Experian today as "retail loan" according to myfico anyway, so I am not sure about that, I thought it was considered a revolving line since it is a Visa that can be used anywhere and that fact that it is a revolving line. A little confused there.

Eq has an old address from 5 yrs ago and that the only way i can get the pop up if i use that address. i really really want this card. did everything work out for you? did you end up calling and being successful with Sportsman sending your card to your new address(PO BOX) after applying via shopping cart trick? Oh I really hope your still on here. I need your advice please!??? TY Smiley Happy
