No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Capital One. And no I don't have any other ones. I do believe a loan would be better than another credit card.
I'd suggest scoping out some financial institutions in the place you're moving to, in particular CUs (you can use the Credit Card Connection web site for this purpose). I would call up several such institutions and describe your situation, and see if they can help you in any way. If you give the name of the place you're going to, some forum members might be able to chip in with ideas.
You might also contact the financial aid office of the university, and see what ideas they have.
Also, if you sign up for a loan at 36% or any other APR, I'd check carefully to see if there's any prepayment penalty.
The university suggested the bank with a cosign from my family otherwise they did not know. The reason I ask about springleaf is because it seems to be our only option at this point when no one else will consider us.

sorry to say you are seeing the reason why it's SO important to get credit cards even when you don't need it because when you all of a sudden need to borrow money you have a great score and it seems logical and I don't disagree not smart on your part to take a loan out and move and then pay it back in under a year or something but it's just not really possible... I would take 6 credit cards out before I took a springleaf loan out because one of the things that's usually on there loan is at least HALF if not all of the interest for the entire loan upfront... most loans the interest rate is amaratized (don't mind my spelling) and you have no pre-payment penalty.
now that you have the secured captal one I would go back to capitalone.com and check the pre-qual again... we see it all the time that just 1 month after getting 1 card with them you might qualify for the quicksilver for $1k or more.... also start running these pre-qual for your wife also... you each can apply seperately.
I do like the suggestion of checking for credit unions in the area you are going to?
if you want to share we can do some of the legwork for you!?
also what university? many these days have banks or credit unions themselves that you might have better luck with.
you have basically no credit and no INQ's so you really are not going to hurt yourself by applying for some things... you really don't have any options... springleaf would be my last and final desperate option after you have looked everywhere.
we have recently seen discover giving out credit cards to people with little or no credit...
how about www.theduckcard.com - we don't have much history on little to no credit applying for them but we have TONS of history showing $15k and $20k credit lines in page after page of posts and they pull EQ.
You need to drive out there so you need gas... I recently got a 76 card by ge with past settlements with GE and a 610 TU.
Chevron tends to be in more locations... they are also GE and pull TU.
Is there a particular reason why student loans are not an option? My husband was on a scholarship and went through his undergrad without taking out a single loan. When he was accepted into his doctorate he took out one loan to help us with the move and get us on our feet in our new state. that seems like the go to option for someone moving due to school
Yes after we get out there. But until then. We need the money to to get out there and pay bills up front.

Pretty sure private loans can be applied for and used for that...assuming you've been accepted into the school and the creditor would be able to get/receive proof of this?
Wells Fargo, Sallie Mae, Discover, and PNC all offer private loans...it took a 5 second google to find those - don't have any experience with those, however - sorry!
Yes I can do that, however, my bank is not willing regardless, because of a lack of a history.
Would those not be a hard pull? I mean if my bank won't do it, why would they? (serious question).
