I had applied for the Barclay card before and got denied. But Alabama Central Credit Union and Florence Federal Credit Union. I have not however applied for the Chevron card.

how long ago did you apply for Barclay? what where there reasons (not enough history?) Did you call backdoor and recon the app?

many of these banks that you have said you applied for are known to deny by computer but if you call and talk to someone who can manual review the app are also known to then approve... and being denied in the past unless within the last 3-6 months I would say doesn't have anything to do with rather you should try them again or not.

Well guys, I got denied by my bank and two local credit unions. I couldn't refinance my car because it is exactly 7 years old, I won't be able to touch the Graduate Plus loans until after we get out there, and I have no family on my side or my wifes that can or are willing to help. Springleaf even denied me. Now I have a lower score and nothing to show for it. I have no idea what to do.

Hmm, I guess I am very confused... I thought Plus loans are loans with the student and parents? Have you defaulted on previous loans before (student or otherwise)? It doesn't make sense that a company like SpringFinancial would decline you based on thin credit, considering that they cater to those with bad credit.

I would also evaluate your moving methods... I.E. consider Pods over U-haul, or something along those lines.

They said because I was moving I was a risk and I had too thin of a file. It makes no sense whatsoever, because they cater to those with bad credit, and that is why I am confused as to what I should do now.

And the Uhaul with my car on the back is actually the cheapest, pods, plus driving my car is more expensive.

credit cards that you apply for right now will not know you are moving so you will have less concern from them about that process because they will know after the fact.

I would take my list above and open up a new internet window and just one after another just apply...

post back results.

also have you done ANY applying for your wife/husband? do you know scores for them?

Re: SpringLeaf Financial

Shes has about a 600, thin file, with one derogatory medical bill. Other than that, not much history wise. What card would actually have a high enough limit where I could make payments affordably and still actually have a chance of getting approved? We need this move desparately.

Re: SpringLeaf Financial

Is your wife's credit any better/different? Looks like I was beat to that question, lol.

Have you thought about applying for two $2.5K loans, from two different lenders? At least then, you'd have the $5K you feel is necessary, and each lender would have limited exposers (thusly increasing their likelyhood of accepting).

Current Score: TU (discover) 720 - 6/29/14 | EQ (score watch) 777 - 7/19/14 - Last App 7/21/14

NPSL          |      $27,600         |      $15,000      |      $7,000      |     $2,800     |      $11,000    |      $13,530      |      $5,200

Do what creditaddict said and go down that list of his, apply for each one - just go down the list. You're not going to get approved for a 10k credit card.

As for minimum payments with CC's, it's usually a fixed amount plus lates, etc, and 1-2% of the new balance. Depends on the card.

Current cards: MSUFCU Platinum, Amex PRG, Amex Surpass, Amex BCE, Citi Prestige, Citi Double Cash, Citi Premier, US Bank Cash +, Huntington Voice, AAviator, Sallie Mae, Discover IT, Chase Freedom TU:753 EQ Enhanced: 758

Can you guys give me a list of ones to apply to? Barclays and discover are still kind of iffy like I said previously.
