State Department 2% CC questions

I've had an eye on the SDFCU 2% card for years.
It still has Chip+PIN available?

The lowest APR listed is 9.99%. Any datapoints about APR adjustment to move your rate lower, if one is assigned a higher rate initially?

What is the max CL people have seen with this card?

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812
Jan 2019 $7.6k on $360k EQ 832 TU 839 EX 831
March 2021 $33k on $312k EQ 796 TU 798 EX 801

IIRC, Isn't SDFCU extremely conservative and POI heavy?

Re: State Department 2% CC questions

I understand that SFDCU no longer issues chip+pin priority cards.   (Andrews FCU doesn't either, in case your quest is to get a chip+pin priority card)

Most approvals I see are in the $5-10K range but I've also seen people reporting post-CLI limits of over $25K.  Can't speak to APR adjustments.

Note that they do tend to be inquiry-sensitive.

Re: State Department 2% CC questions

I got this card 2 years ago. SDFCU no longer offers the chip + PIN priority option. I started out with a $5,000 SL. After a year they automatically increased the limit to $9,000. A week or two ago, about 2 years after opening the card, they automatically gave me another $4k, increasing the limit to $13,000.

I got the 9.99% APR. It doesn't matter to me though because I don't carry a balance.

Ok, no Chip+PIN, no real interest anymore.
Will continue to keep my Diners Premier alive.

@NRB525

Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) has Cashback Rewards 2% on everything credit card that is chip and pin.  No FTC.   All Texas residents are eligible for membership.   There might be other ways to qualify although I don't know for certain.

@800wannabe420 If/when they switch over to VISA, the true "Chip & PIN" feature could go, could stay. @NRB525 If you want a little more details on RBFCU, I recommend taking a look at my recent posts. I recently detailed the credit reports they pull now from a letter they sent Smiley Happy

The few credit unions who had cards with chip + PIN prioirty seem to be dropping it. Even if you get one now, who knows how long it will last?

Yes, this is probably your best solution.

Re: State Department 2% CC questions

rbfcu is good chip+pin 2% card, however their website it's not user friendly and not up to date technology.

Target MC is another good chip+pin card

Re: State Department 2% CC questions

I got this card in 2018 for the chip and PIN. I believe I received its lowest APR then at 11.24%. My SL was $15,000. Since then, with light and infrequent or even no use, I received several auto CLI. My current limit is $30,000 which is my highest limit at this time.
