What are the main differences between them? For example, the Discover More card vs the Discover More student card, which the only thing I see is less time at 0% interest. I noticed the same thing with the citi dividend card. What are the main differences? Do they report differently?
Easier qualifications. No difference in reporting. Usually smaller limit bu most act the same as normal cards. I never had a student card when I started and it is possibe to get a regular one from lenders such as Cap One. Though you will be better off with something like a Discover more student card or even Citi forward.
I may end up getting one soon, then. I just got a Citi Dividend, but have 4 recent HPs, so I don't know if I want another one right now. Also, the person from Discover I talked to said to app for the regular Discover More, and if I don't get approved, it would automatically check to see if I would be approved for the student card.

This im not to sure about. Friend was denied flat out when he tried for the regular version. When he called in they told him to apply for student. He did and was approved. 2 hard inqs though.
I asked the rep about that specifically to make sure, and she said it would only be one inquiry.

Yes, but what im saying is your dealing with the human element. I always take things that require human interaction with a grain of salt. My post eariler today for example, Amex said id have a card by the 13th and still no card even after calling.
One person says one thing, another says something different. You will run into this in all companies.
Should I follow up with another rep, then?

The student card has no differences other than qualification requirements. It also converts to a regular card after enough history. My reccomendation is app for student.

If your credit history is limited then applying for the student version will help guarantee an approval, or at least strongly nudge you through the door. Like others mentioned it is usually a matter of lower starting CL, and sometimes a worse sign-up bonus, starting APR, intro 0% APR period, etc.
If you have a solid credit history than you can skip the student version altogether and just go for the regular card.
