My father was drafted and served in the Vietnam War. Had an honorable discharge. Therefore, I dont know if that qualifies because he did not actually enlist (sorry I dont know the correct verbiage) to serve.
Edit to add: Called USAA to ask. His honorable discharge needed to happen on or after 1996.

I separated in October 2005, but was all ready with USAA because of my wife (daughter of warrant officer). So, I had insurance with them (still do).
However, when we log in, I do notice that I am the "spouse" of the member and not showing as a member on my own. I tried to "join" but when I entered my SSN it said my "access is restricted" and to call the 800 number. So, I am going to call and see what my actual status is.
Well, just got some new info on USAA.
They do keep track of things forever. Back when we had to file BK almost 12 years ago, we didn't want to walk out on USAA, so we did a settlement, but for less than owed. I think the settlement was for about $600 less than balance.
Anyway, just got off the phone and found out they won't allow any financial services (checking, savings, cc, loans) because of this "outstanding amount still owed." While their records do reflect the settlement, they also show the deficient amount and want it paid.
So, I am going to pay it because I want to and now I can. But I think that my future with USAA financial products is not going to go anywhere. Oh well, the insurance is great.
wow!! super congrats!
I love USAA. Have my car, bike auto and house insurance through them. Would apply for a card but have like 6 already and they just reached a year.
