Success with using the backdoor number for Barclay's Barnes and Noble app - WOO HOO!!!

I just wanted to take a few minutes to say that this site is THE BEST for helping to get your credit turned around!!!  I applied for a Barnes and Noble card two days ago, and received a denial letter via email.  However, the only reason that was listed was for the denial was "excessive credit applications" and the letter indicated that they pulled from TU (my current TU score is 612, which is a huge jump from 521 back in January of this year).  I only have one current baddie ($334) on my report that I will be trying to either settle or PFD within the next few days, but otherwise, I have been very diligent with getting debt paid off or down, and just waiting for some of the negatives to drop off the reports.

Because none of the other negatives showed up as a reason for my denial, I got a little bold and decided to call the Barclay's backdoor number this morning and asked if they would be willing to reconsider my application.  The rep took some additional information and verified some other info from my application, and put me on hold to check my credit report.  When he came back, he said he saw I had been doing well with payments and credit debt over the past couple of years, not missing any payments, yada, yada, yada - then he went on to say that since I did call back in directly to talk to someone for reconsider, he was able to approve a card and limit for me of $1000.00 and I should have it in 7-10 days!!! WOO-HOO!!!  That was even more than I was hoping for, and while it might not seem like much for some folks, it has been a huge accomplishment for me, I feel like I just won the lotto, minus the tax man!!

THIS SITE ROCKS!!!  Before we bought our home last summer, I had my husband use this site to get scores and tips to help pre-qualify for a mortgage.  Because my scores were not as good as his, we did the loan in his name only, but our plan is to refinance in 2-3 years and get the loan in both of our names and I truly feel that all of the tips and suggestions from this site are helping with that process.  I even had him use the suggestion I saw a few months ago to get his 2 Capital One cards merged into one card with a higher limit!

This was my first venture using the backdoor number and to have it work has been so exciting!!!  Thanks guys!!

Congrats on the approval and that is A NICE CL. You have worked hard for the past 9 months and this was sort of a treat, or a pay-off Smiley Wink. Good Job. It is a huge accomplishment and it is significant to you which is what matters most. A lot of us have been where you are and through the knowledge gained here have been able to move forward positively so even though it may not be alot - it is still an achievement and I can speak for myself that as a member of this wonderful community - I want to hear stories like this because it is very inspiring. I'm so excited  for you, Tashia!

I had a similar experience December 2008 and if it werent for this awesome forum, I wouldnt have known what to do.....or had the nerveSmiley Tongue

I got the regular Juniper card as a result of pre-approval, and then after reading a lot of posts on the forum decided to app for B & N card.  Like you, I got declined for the same reason...."too many inqs".

I got the backdoor # and called B & N analyst,  explaining the inqs were 2 for the same car loan, 3 for mortgage re-fi and 1 for Juniper a couple of months before.  He just said "OK, I understand the inqs and everything else looks good, so we'll approve you for $2500"!!!!

Needless to say, I was "happy dancing" all over the place!!Smiley Very Happy

I'm so grateful for this forum and all I've learned...and am still learning....and it's the best place to go for shared experiences and encouragement.

Keep up the good work (521 to 612 is no small feat!) and be patient (the hardest thing I've had to learn about credit improvement)!!

And congrats again on a job well done!!Smiley Happy

Re: Success with using the backdoor number for Barclay's Barnes and Noble app - WOO HOO!!!

Just used the back door number for an online denial for Spirit Air (under written  by Barclays) Explained to rep why I wanted the card and he stated the reason for denial was automatic by computer since I was approved for Ameriprise World Elite 4 days prior. Rep reviewed ap, checked identity, reviewed income and stated he was approving for 4,500 the highest starting limit and once I activted card they could approve a good cli.

4 inquiries on TU  (2 were Barclays pulls from these 2 apps) TU Fico was 787 pulled just before ap. No bad anything on file and 10 new accounts 90 days old. The back door numbers do work and was answered on first ring. Very nice and informed rep. Sounds like when applying on line if denied check reason and call in.

The number is 866-750-6031 for the Barclays/Juniper corporate office.  It's under the Backdoor Number thread under the Credit Cards link.  Sorry I didn't include the url link, I'm typing from my Pre phone - LOL!!  After seeing some of the replies, maybe I should have asked for a higher CL...just kidding!!
