I've had a Discover Chrome with a $4.4K CL for a little over four years (it graduated from a $200 secured card a few years ago and grew) and a Discover IT with a $3K CL for 10 months. Last night I saw that my Chrome was eligible for a $1K increase. I didn't accept or decline it. I closed the app and started searching this forum for DPs on combining limits. I saw conflicting info, some saying both cards must be eligible for CLI and both must be open at least a year... even some saying Discover doesn't do this anymore.
So I called this morning and was transferred to a credit specialist who confirmed that my Chrome was eligible for a CLI. She put me on a brief hold, then came back to say the CL of the newer card had been transferred to the Chrome and closed, as requested. She added the $1K CLI, so now I have one Discover card with an $8.4K balance.
