Please all tell me that this was NOT a hard pull. ![]()
I've had the Discover More for 16 months. The initial CL of $3500 never moved. No auto increase. I always paid in full and used the card every single month. Today, I did the automated phone increase request and I was approved for an additional $1500, bringing the CL up to $5k. I didn't want to request more at this point. The full amount of the request was approved without being connected to a CSR.Now, I read in a previous thread that Discover doesn't do a hard pull without disclosure administered by a live human being.
Is this so? Can anyone confirm this? Or does someone who was approved by the automated system have a different experience?
If it wasn't a hard pull, this is great. If it is, I'll live but I don't think the $1500 increase would be worth the hard pull.
Anyway, happy to see my Discover grow a little. Still my lowest CL of all cards, but then my relationship with Discover is young. I might put in another request in a year or so. Patience is of the essence.
The way they do it is they give you two choices--accept the smaller CLI without a HP, or possibly get a bigger increase with a HP by talking to the CSR and authorizing it. It's sort of like a game show... keep the hundred dollars or trade it in for what's behind door #2. ![]()
It sounds like you stopped at the smaller increase and there should be no HP because you didn't authorize it. You can do all this online too, BTW. They do an internal review and you get a message like "we can offer you $x now, but if you want more, we have to pull your report. Do you want to accept $x now, or pull a report and try for more?"
No, I cannot. The online increase option disappeared a month ago. Before that, I had used the online request and it kept saying in progress and never showed a result. Then, a bit later, that option disappeared mysteriously.

My CLI button kept appearing and disappearing too, from the front page... I later found it under my "profile" information after it had disappeared from the main account page again. But after you use it, it disappears again and is replaced by the "Request a CLD" button. It's unnecessarily confusing.

That was the section I was talking about. And no, the decrease option doesn't replace the increase option. They coexisted side by side before the increase option disappeared. But yes, I agree. It's unnecessarily complicated.

That's not what happened for me at all. First I had a CLD button (talking about the main account page now). Then it turned into a CLI button, which I didn't press. Then they both disappeared. Then while looking for the Rewards section in my profile, I saw the CLI button was there. Pressed it this time. Then I had nothing on the main account page, but a CLD button in place of the CLI button in my profile section. Now there's no CLI or CLD button in either place. I have no idea what the logic is behind any of it. I periodically check just for [bleeps] and giggles. It's like playing Where's Waldo.
