Super Prime

Just wanted to get an idea of some cards that are "super" prime that are attainable... I.E. Orchard is subprime.. Amex BCP, GOLD PR, etc is prime... what are some of the top tier prime.. not cards that are by invite only and come with sky high AFs.. just wanted to get an idea of something to put my eye on for 2012..

I honestly thought the Chase Sapphire Preferred was a super hard card to get and came with a pretty nice CL 5K and above (of course dependent on your creditworthiness) until I read that one Member being approved with a 5K (IIRC) CL with sub 700 FICOS.

I also thought AmEx Platinum was super Prime, but I read all the time, Members here getting approved with sub 700 FICO's.

With that said, I just do not know anymore.

I guess I've always thought of a super Prime Card as one that comes with a very high CL and that only people with very high FICO's, high AAoA's, other high limit CC's on their reports, long credit history etc......could get.

But it seems as of late, all the Cards I used to consider super Prime are being issued to people with just "so-so" credit.

I am happy for those people, but it really makes it hard for me to determine what is super Prime and what is not.

Just my 0.02 cents.

LOL...............I didn't know there was "super" prime catagory for cards.

For me, it comes down to the bank backing the card, low interest rate and/or rewards offered.

That's the one i thought also. The Sapphire Preferred I think there was someone who got it witha high 600's FICO

Prime is always YMMV, depending on many factors. But I would say any card that's out of the league for common mortals i.e. Amex Black

The rest I think most people can get approved with decenst scores and credit history.

I wonder if anyone on this board has a JPM Palladium?

im just as confused as you.  initially i thought that the amex platinum was not attainable by just anyone.  had to have high income and spend 250k a year with the card.  then after reading the boards, i see people getting approved for it just like any other amex charge.

i dont know whats super prime anymore, nor do i know what that means!!!!

I think any card you get from Simmons Bank is super prime.

simmons first, penfed, iberia, and gold card from amalgamated bank of chicago i think. simmons wont give you a card unless you actually verify you have full time employment. and you actually have to verify your income source with penfed and iberia. but you need to have a MINIMUM fico score about 745 to qualify for any of these cards.
