I got Visa Cash rewards it gives 1 % back thats all. What about AAoA ? If I cancel it will it increase it. Will not that be better in long term.
Hank,
They're going to report to CRA anyway if it is closed or not. The question is: Do you really want the card? Do you have any use for the card? Andrews FCU approved $500 CL Toy card. I took it because it already took a HP and hopefully they will give me some better than that.
Ron.
Ron,
I needed the CASH+ VISA Signature one. This one has no real benefit. It increase my av credit by 5000. But reduces my AAoA if I keep it, I think. If I cancel it I think it will increase my AAoA. My total utilization on cc is less than 10 %. Hence the dilemma.
Hank,
Your score is lower now because they already HP. They will report it anyway whether it is closed or not. It depends on how much you will spent on the card and the limit of the card. It comes down to one thing. Do you have any use of the card? Do you really want to keep it?
By the way, not only credit utilization and AAOA will hurt your score. The number of inquiries within 12 months will hurt your score.

Hi there.
Unfortunately the impact to your AAoA won't be reversed by cancelling it. The damage (however minor it might be) is done.

So now just wait to see if they do PC to Cash + signature . I will keep pressure on them by not activating it and then see. CR promised to call me during the third week of july for PC. Keep you guys informed on what happens.
I also got a letter (separately) that gave my credit score. They pulled TU for me. Score was 753, and they used Trans Union FICO Risk Score Classic 04. The score range listed for this FICO score is 309-839, according to the letter.
@emptypockets wrote:My card came in the mail today. 8k limit, 16.99%. They pulled TU for me (score is in sig). AAOA 5 yrs, 10 mos. Not surprised at limit, most of my cards are still in the 5-10k range.

Huh, I'm a little surprised they came out and stated explicitly what pull they did. Interesting to know, thanks for posting that.
