Chase just wrote me a long convoluted letter, explaining that my (Signature) card does not have a credit limit but it has an "access limit."  So I can exceed this limit without a penalty fee, but "the credit bureaus may not report your access line, which will make the account appear to be an open line of credit versus a revolving credit card."  I love how they blame it on the CRAs.

I have called Chase and got some information on Chase FreedomSM Cash Visa Signature® Card  and  Chase FreedomSM Cash World MasterCard®.
* Both cards has Credit Line of Limit and you will get charge penalty when you go over the limit.
* Credit Line of Limit and Access Line of LImit are the same.
* The reward programs are the same.
* The difference is Visa or Master, and some benefits are different by Visa or Master.
* Most places will take both, but some places take Visa only or Master only.
* The Chase FreedomSM Cash Visa Signature® Card  has future benefit that Chase FreedomSM Cash World MasterCard®. does not have.  Which is you just need to flash the card to make a payment instead swipe a card.

So, it's up to you to switch or not.  But ...  Don't exceed your limit !  You will get in trouble !!

Thanks bunnyrabbit, but I don't plan on exceeding a $25,000 limit.  I'd have to buy a car or something.

How you like it?    Is it like just scan the chip on your card?

I think I am going to switch to Chase FreedomSM Cash Visa Signature® Card from Flexbile.  Becasue I have enough Master Card already.

I have this "Blink" feature on both of my Chase cards.  I've never used it because very few merchants in my area accept "Blink."  I still swipe my cards.  You can learn more about this technology at--

bunnyrabbit, do remember when you switch cards, the Signature cards have the problematic credit line reporting issues, and the non-Signature cards report credit limits properly.

Did the rep really tell you that only the Visa has what Chase calls "Blink" or an RFID chip? Because I have the MC from a year ago and that has it just the same as the Visa.

You're correct, CK.  According to the Chase Blink website--

  1. How is blink different from Visa's payWave and MasterCard's PayPass™?
All three terms refer to contactless payment features. Chase refers to its contactless feature as blink, whereas Visa refers to its as payWave and MasterCard refers to its as PayPass.

Chase cardmembers will find one of the following blink symbols on the front of their card
    or

with the Visa payWave or MasterCard PayPass symbol on the back of the card.

Re: Switching the card type.

Yes, CK.  CSR told me that.   That CSR is no good!

Well, my current Chase Flexible does not have those marks.
I guess I have to ask for it when I request to switch my card if it does not come automatically.
McDonald, Jack In the Box, 7 Eleven, Petco are the most place have Blink machine in my area at this moment.  That's fine with me.

Are those marks are only for Chase Freedom?

Those markings are only for Chase cards that have "Blink" technology, and I assume this feature is available on most of their credit cards.  Both my Chase Freedom Visa and Chase Free Cash Rewards cards have Blink.  However, I remember in 2004, I had 1 Chase card with Blink, and 1 without this feature.

My Chase Freedom Signature Pain-In-The-Butt-To-Get-It-To-Report-Properly Visa has Blink.  I used it once at McDonald's just for fun.  I think I need a new hobby or something. Smiley Happy

Re: Switching the card type.

I like the blink technology.  I think it's great for most situations, especially those that don't require a signature anyway.  I get the feeling that the technology is sounder then the swiping mechanisms.  I hate it when my card doesn't work.  There are many people who are completely against the RFID technology though.  Especially in relation to Walmart's backing and pushing of the technology.  There are even some people who think it's the mark of the beast.

Please tell me more about this problem and any other pros & cons on this card.

How this problem occurs if you know?
What did you do to fix this problem?
How long did it takes to fix the problem or it never fixed?
How does this affect to the credit score and history?

Thanks!!

Re: Switching the card type.

I'm in the same boat with DW's Chase Freedom Visa Signature card.  Haven't seen yet how it affects the actual utility calculation.  Right now the account is sowing up in the "other" section of our TC reports.  Haven't seen yet how it will affect the FICO scores and reports.  For us it may be a non-issue.  For people with utility issues it may be a problem.  For us I think worst case we will simply pay the current balance a few days before the statement drops and not worry about it.
