@Anonymous wrote:Even without Prime, the ability to finance things over a longer period can come in handy. It's really not that confusing and you can configure how payment is applied.
I have mine set up like this so that my payments always go to my monthly charges first so I won't get hit with interest on those.
You can also just use Equal Pay and never have to worry about deferred interest at all.
Definitely use the card though. This card can be a great gateway to other Sync cards like Marvel and PayPal Cashback and those are gateways to high limits that help you get prime cards.
I am not really sure the Sync considers "relationship" much at all, to be honest. I think all their cards are viewed as separate products and having one doesn't make you more likely to be approved for another. At least I have never really seen evidence of it. I'm also not sure they are known to be generous with limits, especially on younger/thinner profiles.
In any case, OP, you already took the hits to get the card. You may as well keep it and use it for the 5% benefit which is a good discount if you regularly use Amazon anyway.

This makes a bit more sense using that option then as you have it setup and clears is up for me.
It's a great card honestly. I do have prime so I benefit from that but you can get value from the financing as well.
Also if you know anyone who has Prime, they can add you to their household and when you use your card, you'll get the 5%. It's not just on your account but any account that has Prime, including free trials, student, and low income accounts.

There is definitely evidence that they take overall relationship with them into account for subsequent approvals just based on SL differences and Sync is one of the most generous lenders with limits. Starting limits can be low but it's not uncommon to grow them to $10K or more each.
While I'm sure this account is a valuable asset to some, I'm not sure why you came out of the garden for it. It can only be used on Amazon limiting its usefulness to some people. Plus now just adds more time to your already extensive garden term in hopes of getting any of your goal cards. Considering your struggles laid out in other threads, I would have thought that you would have been inactive a bit longer than this.
Now that it's open you might as well use it to help build a strong profile, wasting a HP to immediately close an account isn't doing that.
I would also caution you from opening anymore "store" accounts though, they now outnumber your Major Bank card accounts. Which can have a less than desirable affect on your profile.
That said, congrats on your recent approval and I hope that it works out for you.
I'm a little curious why you applied for it, as all of the info being discussed could have been easily discovered before applying, but stuff happens, no use worrying about the past. As for the card's value, if you shop much on Amazon, you should get Prime IMO, it's worth it regardless of payment method, and if you have Prime, either this or the Chase Visa are no-brainers. JMO.
If that does not sound like you (eg if you don't shop much at Amazon), SD the card. No reason to close it now, though it would have been better in this case not to apply for it.
Sync Bank is fine. They are what used to be GE Financial. They have been issuing store cards for many years, and are a solid, known quantity in that area. They are not premium, but they are reputable. As for CLs, I opened my Amazon Store Card last May with a $1,500 CL, and my CL now is $6,000. Far from my highest CL, but it's 4x where it was less than a year ago. YMMV. Good luck whichever path you choose!
I have it, the CL started at $1000 and it's $3000 already, it also can be used with Prime to do Whole Foods pickup/delivery through Amazon, giving you a 5% off grocery card in a limited sense (and for Whole Paycheck Foods you need all the % off you can get).
It also works as a 5% off card at Amazon.go stores (the convenience store and the grocery).
the synchrony special finance offers are just like many store cards. They build all of the interest waiting for you to fail to completely pay it off in the 12 or 24 months. If you leave even a penny unpaid you then get all that interest tossed at you.
I have an equal pay for a laptop I bought the kids where it just breaks it into the 12 payments and puts it on your monthly payment. This route will make sure its paid off but doesn't maximize potential savings.

The $120 SUB GC with no spend was one of the reason for it. That alone is worth a HP IMO.
Was going to try and go for the WF Propel in awhile but then the current stitutation hit and my chances of getting approved from that went form good to probably nil now unless things drastically improve.
@Anonymous wrote:I don't have the card, so someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it come with special financing offers as well? You know, 0% for 6 or 12 months if the purchase amount is over $xxx? That might have some use??
i don't recall hearing about any perks of the card changing recently, so if it had attractiveness to you when you applied, what's different now? I can't imagine that a $120 GC was the pure driver for getting the card was it? To each their own, but $120 isn't worth it to me when accounting for a new account penalty, inquiry, average age damage, having to keep track of another card, etc.
Yep, I have used and enjoyed the zero percent interest many many times - duration depends on purchase amount:

Synchrony (PPMC) gave me an $8,000 SL with only a year of credit history, so they can most certainly be generous. Within 6 months, I got it up to $10,000. Of course YMMV.
