Sync/Lowes

Someone asked in another thread about who does Lowes CC pull from. I wanted to double check and then realized something interesting. Last June I applied for a Lowes card while heavy in debt. This was my first attempt at a card in years and they gave me a $400 CL. (This was long before I gave a crap about FICO scoring because I was so up to my eyeballs in debt). So now that everything is paid and I'm obsessed with all of this now, I see it was a TU pull. I called and cancelled the card in December when I closed all but my CapOne Platinum. Between HD and Lowes, I've always preferred Lowes and it's closer to me. So, being a new credit stud (haha) I applied for a Lowes card back in April and was immediately flat out turned down. At first they would not tell me why when I called to recon. Then I got the letter stating it was because I closed a card within the past 12 months. It was then I got a HD card (I had closed it back in December too) and they gave me a $1,701 CL and recon to $10k.

So, I was looking at the TU pulls, and I now notice that Lowes never even did a HP at all when I applied in April. So, I guess if you're on a blacklist you won't even get the HP....good news for me since I have 9 INQs since January 2015. I'm almost tempted to hit them up again Smiley Happy Of course, I'm sure my luck would change and it would be a HP this time.

You can still get the card, you just have to ask to speak to a manager who can override that auto decision and approve you. Same thing happened to me for a while and I did that and was able to get my Lowes card back. And they did do a HP once they were able to override it.

After I was turned down and I called and they flat out said no. The store could override this? And would it be when I'm in line to make a purchase?

Re: Sync/Lowes

I think he meant if you get a Sychrony Credit Manager/analyst on the phone they can override the decision.

I escalated as high as I could go when I was turned down for the Lowes card. They all told me the same thing - they could not tell me why it was rejected and found out for sure when the letter arrived. I was thinking he was saying in-store can be overridden.

Yup exactly. I don't know if I was just lucky that day or what but they did have me speak to a different person, an American of course, and I told her that I wanted to reopen my old account. She said she couldn't do that and told me to reapply and then I told her that the system kept denying me and that's how she offered to help reverse that decision.

So, I called the number and the person said absolutely no way will it be overridden and it will be a year before an application can be submitted. I talked to him for about 5 minutes and he said there's nobody I could speak to that can overrule Syncrony policy. So, I asked to escalate the call to his supervisor and he stumbled and said yes. He put me on hold, then came back and asked me for my last name and SSN to give to his supervisor. The gentleman I spoke to was very nice and said about the instant denials, however he said if I go back online and apply or apply at the store, I need to call the number you gave me and then ask to speak to their supervisor and they will remove the block to allow the application to be looked at. I really am partial to Lowes and now I have to think about possibly leap over the Garden fence for this one since there will be a HP.

Thanks everyone for the help and thanks popamode72 for the number!
