So this has got me asking if anyone here with a Synchrony card has had greater than four years of inactivity without a CLD?
I have had several Synchrony cards for about a decade. We go back and forth. They will give me huge Credit limits for store cards, then follow them down to the balance and even close some. A few months later they will raise all the limits back up and start sending me offers to open new accounts to replace the closed ones. I have done this dance twice with them. It seems like they get spooked every few years and then settle back down. Strange behavior. My Chase and Cap One cards never do this and are just reliable, but don't have as high of CL.
I used to have 2 cards with synchrony. They decreased the credit on one card, while giving me a credit increase on the other within the same week. The credit increase was a lot more than the credit decrease so I came out way ahead.
Just FYI, Most, not all, credit lines are like muscles. If you don't use/exercise them, you eventually will lose them. Whether it be a decrease or a closure (over time).

Bump
I just bought a car and got a new credit card; Synchrony dropped my Amazon from $400 to $180 and my Newegg from $550 to $250. If the cards were not useless before, they are now.

DW had the same thing happen with her Sleep Number card...only it was $3,000 CLD to $250.
Obviously, she closed it because we're all set on pillowcases.
We should all prepare for micro actions of this sort as interest rates rise and the inevitable economic contraction nears.
