Synchrony CLI? What the Heck?

So I tried to get a CLI on my PayPal MC (300 limit LOL) and was denied TWICE...so this time waited for the letter, it said....reason for denial "insufficient experience at your current credit line" and they gave me the number to call 866-300-6432, called ABSOLUTELY no help whatsoever....does anyone here have any info on talking to a human at Synchrony? The CSR was no help even when I asked if I can talk to an analyst, she said the computer and credit reports make that decision....wow, OK I guess....yet 10K CL on my Marvel and 7K on Walmart not sure where they are going with 300 CL on PayPal....rant over....

Re: Synchrony CLI? What the Heck?

Did you try the backdoor numbers for Sync in the backdoor numbers sticky?

Re: Synchrony CLI? What the Heck?

They denied me outright for the card, so at least they gave you $300 although it may not seem like much to you.

I have $10,000 on Marvel $10,000 on AEO and $4,000 on Belk. Other limits with the same bank does not necessarily guarantee an approval or a large limit.

Re: Synchrony CLI? What the Heck?

I personally wouldn't poke the Sync beast because blue envelopes clash with my mailbox.

No I did not, like you said later, "Blue Envelope" and if the advice and experience here is you can't get far by talking to them, I figured why call again....so figured I would put this out there before moving forward with any other move....thanks!

I don't think 300 seems like much to anyone....They may as well have denied me, this is useless.....and yes I know a large limit on other cards guarantees nothing, but the reason for denial seems contradictory with Synchrony Bank itself giving such a low limit on the card after such high limits on other cards they have granted me, I bank with them (great savings rates) and have more in that account then all CL's combined from the three cards I have with them, even Chase "makes exceptions" to the 5/24 rules because I bank HEAVY with them.....just seemed odd to me....and I KNOW odd.....Smiley Wink

Synchrony isn't exactly known for making the kind of exceptions like Chase, for instance.  That being said, most folks usually contact the Credit Solutions line in the event the traditional CLI channel did not yield favorable results (based on profile of course as opposed to I "deserve" a CLI).   Granted, $300 is not very flexible if you tend to place high transaction amounts at a given moment.  When was the last time you used the card?  Have you updated your income on their site?

Thanks for the reply Fin....Yes I use it every month for like 10 here and 20 dollars there, I do not go over 50 balance, and I wait till it cuts to pay so no prepay....No I have not updated my income, it has not changed for the 4 months I have had the card, should I? I am guessing I did NOT call the credit solutions line? I thought the number they gave me in the decline letter was that....interesting, although does calling that number make the blue evelope I hear so much about happen?

Yes, I can see how this can limit the usage on the card.  The number on the letter is not the Credit Solutions department.  If your income has not changed then you should be fine.

The blue envelope tends to be triggered by a variety of different factors, not all inclusive of course, but some scenarios point to excessive number of accounts/inquiries during any recent Sync approval(s), too many recently opened Sync accounts in a relatively short period, carrying large balances (non-promotional) for a prolonged period of time, excessive Sync CLI requests (especially if you hold multiple Sync accounts), credit profile/score deterioration, high utilization, etc., abnormal spending patterns and/or questionable transactions on Sync accounts.  If none of these apply to you, then by all means contact them.  Typically, any CLI request via Credit Solutions is SP.

Re: Synchrony CLI? What the Heck?

Hey dog, thats truely oddSmiley Wink. With your profile getting cli should be a no brainer. Is this the MC extras or the new 2% one?. would only call Credit Solutions , the overseas one when going for a cli. Hope you break this bone eventually, even for me and super low spend, 300 doesnt do muchSmiley Wink
