Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I've seen quite a few posts in both Credit Card Applications and Credit Card Approvals stating that a call to Credit Solutions or a regular CSR resulted in a HP, which we know is always possible however it's not been common in the past.
This thread is for you to share your experience with this... if you applied for a CLI on a Synchrony card (either at approval or later) and got a HP, tell us about it!
Some important details might include:
I expect most of the HPs to be on TU, but if you got a HP on a different bureau feel free to share your state/region if you would like.
I've listed the things that come to mind, but if there's anything you can think of that you feel would add a data point please feel free to share. The bullet-points are meant to be a guide only... all information is welcome.
Thanks!
Note that if you posted previously about your Synchrony HP CLI in another thread you're still welcomed to tell us about it here... the goal is to get as much data in one place as possible. That being said, this thread is not meant to be a substitute for starting a thread or posting over in 'Applications' or 'Approvals'.
Also, there's no need to mention Care Credit - unless something has just changed a CLI request on it is expected to always be a HP.
Additional note: this thread is regarding CLI requests that resulted in a hard pull (HP)... if your CLI was a SP please share in 'Approvals' if you haven't already... thanks!

- What is the card type? (i.e. Amazon, Lowe's, etc.) Lowe's
- Approximate date of CLI request (rough estimate is OK; i.e. month and year) April 2016
- Was the CLI request at time of approval or later? 10-20 min after online approval (had to find the number)
- Which credit bureau got the HP? TU
- Was the CLI request through chat, 'regular' phone CSR, or Credit Solutions? Phone, Credit solutions CSR
- What was the original SL (or for older accounts, CL before request), how much did you request, and was there a counter? SL 3,000; requested 35,000; Approved
- Was the request approved or denied? (tells us about denials, too, if there was a HP) Approved
- Any other information you feel could be helpful. The HP registered so I had 2 hard pulls from Synch/Lowe's; however, the next day or so the Bureau deleted one and It ended up being only one HP for the app and CLI
This is a great data point... there are various opinions on if the HP 'merging' is done at the bureaus, or if the lenders simply 'reuse' the same HP if pulled the same day. Your example seems to support the former.
For the record as long as the 'merger' happens I'm not overly worried with how/where it takes place, but your experience is consistent with my past data points.
Thanks for sharing!
UncleB, nothing to share as I have not asked for a CLI on any Synchrony accounts for months now, but I am really interested in this thread. I am in the garden and would absolutely NOT want a HP!
Great idea to start this thread. I hope everyone who has gotten CLI's with HP will answer.
To give you a little bit of information about the Lowes credit card anything above $35,000 requires income verification. So synchrony bank will give you a fax number and you have to fax over your recent paystub's or W-2 before they will proceed with any type of credit line increase on the Lowes credit card. Same go for Sams MasterCard.

This ^^^ is an excellent data point!

I have a GAP card and requested a CLI which was denied. I received a letter in the mail which stated SYNCB obtained my credit score from TU and was dated the same day as my CLI request, however to my knowledge I never received a HP on my TU report. I also thought it was a HP so this is a good thread. I requested the increase through credit solutions

Thanks for your feedback!
Hopefully it was only a SP... if you wanted you could use the denial to get a free copy of your TU, then you could see everything (HPs and SPs).
That's what I do whenever I'm denied... that way I still get something from the 'exercise'. It's my way of making "lemons into lemonade", so to speak!
