I too am one of the Sucksrony victims.  I have an Amazon credit card:  zero balance/always PIF, Sam's Club 17% usage: always pay more than the minimum/never late, Sleep Number:  0 balance PIF before promotional rate of 0% expired.  They took AA recently (lowered CL by $300) on the Sam's Club card and the reason given:  "the balance on my mortgage is not decreasing fast enough."  LOL  Wrap your head around that one.  I got my mortgage in 3/2021.  VA Loan, 2.5%, never late and I ALWAYS pay more than is due and apply the extra to the principal.  In the 4 years I have had the mortgage I now have over $100k in equity but in Suckrony's world I am not paying it "fast enough".  It would seem they slap any old reason on an AA letter knowing they only have to give A reason not THE reason they are taking it.  I will never open another accout with them again.

When I was young and dumb (I've gotten older) my only cards were Synch cards: Lowe's, Lumber Liquidators, Amazon, **bleep**'s Sporting Goods. All of them were opened at the checkout to save a certain percentage of whatever it was I was buying. All of them were only used once, paid in full, and then closed by Synch a few years later. I don't wish for a card with Synch, but I do wish I had kept my Lowe's card open since I opened it in 2003. It will fall off Ex and Eq next fall and will cause a significant drop on my FICO score. 😥

Yeah, that word was added to the smut filter a few years ago, which is unfortunate for the sporting goods store, LOL.

I absolutely have fall back cards. The only ones I really miss are the Amazon and the Care Credit. And I only miss them because of the promo financing they offered.

Synchrony closed all 10 of my accounts on the same day without out any notice and with the flimsey excuse that I was at "high risk for nonpayment". I had about 3% utilization using only a few of the cards, and those only had balances month-over-month because they were promo financing. Additionally, they had just increased the limits on my PayPal MC and PayPal credit accounts a few days earlier. The kicker, and I suspect the real reason for closure, is because in the three years I used their credit accounts, I paid ZERO interest to them. That makes me a "deadbeat payer" in the credit world. And that's fine. I do the same with all my cards so Synchrony was nothing special.

Gotta love Synch. Hope you have some fall back cards.

you can get them back eventually, and the next time you won't push CLs where they aren't needed to avoid this happening again

Re: Synchrony bank closing accounts due to high risk of non payment?

Reports like the ones in this thread are exactly why I categorically refuse to open a Synchrony card.  We bought a new (to us) condo last year and did a lot of remodelling and yeah, we spent well into the five figure range doing so, much of it at Lowes; they kept asking if I wanted to open a card, and I kept saying "No thank you."

Chapter 13:

  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!
