Re: Synchrony closed all accounts

I would be careful. Synchrony is not worth it. Transunion just took a hit of 22 points in one day with a very strong credit profile. If I could do it over I would never touch them.

Re: Synchrony closed all accounts

All my synchrony accounts were 5+ years old so it hurt my credit age the most. Except Hom furniture was 11 months

Re: Synchrony closed all accounts

That's Credit Karma nonsense.

Your credit age is unaffected, and closed accounts contribute to average age of accounts as long as they are on your credit report, usually up to 10 years.

Some get removed a bit early, some stay longer, but there is no immediate effect from closed accounts aging wise.

The only way closed accounts can immediately impact your score is if it causes utilization change (moving upward).

Thank you for the details!  That really doesn't make sense, at least on the surface.  With higher income and regular use, that's not typical of the previous DPs.  Again, sorry that this happened.

I certainly hope it's not a profitability thing; my Synchrony cards are all either PIF getting rewards back or used for 0% promos that get paid off before the retroactive interest hits.

I agree 100%. It almost sounds like it was a mistake. OP I would call, you have nothing to lose.

Do you think the score drop is from having a balance and no available credit?

Re: Synchrony closed all accounts

I recently closed my Paypal MasterCard from Synchrony. After 5 months of paying in full and cycling the limit, they refused to raise my limit above the SL of $300. I finally just said screw them. They would sometimes do mid-cycle reporting too when I had a balance which would cause some damage to my score due to the card having high usage. I have the Alliant Platinum Rewards, which gives me a flat 2% on everything, so I didn't need this card any longer. And just to demonstrate how inconsistent they are, I have another card with them that has a $25k limit! It just seems like a lot of their decisions are arbitrary. I'm going to keep the cards I have with them for now because they are saving/making me money, but if they close any of them, I'm not going to look back. I'm also planning to replace my Marvel MC with Cap1 SavorOne at my first opportunity.
