@FinStar wrote:Ok, you're forgiven SYNCB. But I see an axe behind your back 😂 And, I just got approved for the Banana Visa back in July. Too soon? LOL
At the risk of derailing this thread, for about three seconds I considered going for the Banana Visa myself, but I really want to hang on to my Lowe's so I let go of the idea.
Back on-topic, this Synch card actually looks to be a pretty good PayPal MC alternative!
Ugh. I derailed this thread so bad. I know, you'll see me in the Mod lounge for a 'chat' 😂 And, you best hurry if you want the Banana Visa so you can teleport yourself to Barclays 😎 when the time comes.
My apologies @JNA1 -- from fingahs to Superman underwear!
So, one thing I noticed after looking at this particular card, it has FTFs -- 3% IIRC? I mean, it is still a good alternative to PayPal 2% Cashback but ...still not sure. I guess I can get used to statemet credits given that AmEx and others already do that on some of their cards.

@JNA1 wrote:This card has been out there a while, but it was Invite Only. I was made aware today by a friend that it appears they have opened apps to the public. This is similar to the PayPal MasterCard without the need for a PP account. It is available with 13.99%, 16.99%, or 26.99%, which quite a bit better than the PPMC.
The negative (for me) is that cash back is only available as statement credit. Unfortunately, this card is not being offered with the $100 SUB that the Invite Only was being offered with. DW was offered this card last month with the $100 SUB, but we went with another Max Cash Preferred card and Synovus Rewards card since we already have the PPMC.

If you don't want to bother, send me screenshots and I'll write your approval thread.
Nice! See, team effort here folks! 😜
My fingah is a little twitchy.
Talking you into it is free
Talking you out of it will require a payment, a chunky one at that, since you've already decided
🤔
I knew there was a catch 😂 Well-worth it since you could write my entire approval thread, with pop-ups please!
Cash App ok? Or, is a payment with new SYNCB card ok? I found out, after some probing into all my PayPal accounts that none have the PPK feature...so, sad 🐼
None of your PP accounts have the PPK?
Sad 🐼, indeed.
@UncleB-- that's correct. I remember seeing threads about it, and I know that you, @Remedios, @simplynoir, LTL and few others use it.
So, time went by and never really gave it much thought because I figured, I can always add it, right? WRONG lol. So, I checked everything online according the the handy-dandy instructions the other night:
PP account #1 - nope. Hmmm, odd. Ok fine. PP account #2, FAIL. So, I thought...ok ok, it's gotta work on the third one! BZZZZZT! Wrong again, FinStar. So, now I'm wondering if @CreditCuriosity can even try it (a topic for another time of course)
What's wild about that is when PPK first got release my newer Paypal account had it first before my older, more established account so I figure they were releasing it in chunks to people. I didn't realize even now people are not able to access the PPK feature 😐
But that said it really is pretty awesome, less so ever since AMEX cut them off earlier this year. Made it so useful when it was working. Sigh

Yeah I read about it being 'neutered' after sometime -- no more AmEx and Plastiq. I guess it could be used on Android Pay or GooglePay, IIRC? So, pretty much just Discover and Freedom Flex/UNL? Unless I'm missing others :-/
And, I figured the PPK feature would be available no matter what, but alas...c'est la vie!
PPK is set up on a business paypal account and linked discover to it is last time I even played with it @FinStar .. Assume still active used some obscure link as never saw it normally.

I think Google Pay is the only one but not too sure on that. It doesn't work for Samsung or Apple Pay at all
It's still useful for merchants who charge fees for credit cards and fee-free for "debit" cards i.e. utilities and the like. For example for my water bill the city charges 5% to pay online via credit card. That's some robbery right there smh

I love threads like this. It was a ton of fun, but still had info and serious discussion mixed in. If MC cell phone protection doesn't go away, it does a separate this card from the PPMC quite a bit.
Like a fly to a light, I'm in here. I'm such a fool lol.

Or the very similar but legally different: companies like Verizon who will give you an autopay discount if you use a debit card (or in the case of the Wireless side, if you use their credit card). So I use PPK to get the discount while getting cc rewards.
Less important, I have a few monthly/quarterly recurring charges and I put them on PPK. Then if I ever need to put spend on a certain card, I can switch that in just one place
Curious,
Anyone pull the trigger on the Synchrony 2% Premier World MasterCard ?
