Citi probably won't like that many recent inquiries. I've heard they have some sort of rule about declining people who have very recent inquiries, but as "spacer" rather than a "spreer" I've never cared enough to fully investigate.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: THIN file

Honestly if they dont have a card in mind that they want they probably shouldnt apply for any more cards. Three accounts should be good for now to boost your friends credit. But if they really want more to build right now and they are under the 5/24 rule they could try the chase freedom. DH was approved with 5 months total credit history and only 2 cards reporting, so it is possible. I would check the prequal first. Generally chase is pretty good about their prequals being legit. Especially if they list an interest rate and not just the variable rate. Just keep in mind that a prequal isnt a promise of approval.

Chase is generally open to new borrowers. It's people with lots of new accounts that they don't want.

AmEx denial is a little surprising! They generally seem fine with thin files. Which card was it?
