I applied for my card in the store. The girl gave me a piece of paper as a temperory card and told me the limit was $3000. I asked again because I didn't think I heard her correctly. She said $3000. again. I smiled for the rest of the night. Totally do not understand why I received that limit but am not complaining. It was my highest limit as of Sept last year.
I got a Target Redcard five years ago and I got one CLI from $200 to $1000 after a year or so and I've never gotten another CLI. I guess I can't complain too much, because I buy most big ticket items at other retailers that have better quality. The 5% off comes in handy when buying casual clothes (since there is no sales tax on clothing where I live). It's also nice to get free shipping when buying from Target.com.
The biggest item I have bought at one time was a 40" flatscreen HDTV for a little over $400, so the credit limit hasn't been much of an issue.
My limit was $200 when I opened the account in 2008. My current limit is $200.
When I opened my card in 2008, it started with a $200 CL. A month later, they increased it to $500.
Five years later and I'm still at $500.
Wow. I was wandering around the site today after paying my bill...couldn't find the "credit line increase" button anywhere. I guess it doesn't exist. FYI, I had the Target Red card before it was TD Bank, closed by credit grantor. I think my limit was $300. I was approved for $200 in October 2013 and was just hoping I could find out when/how to request an increase. I guess I will just sit on it. What can I do with a $200 target cc??? Other than put in my sock drawer.
