You are already at a credit union. Go sit at a desk and talk to somebody. Answer all their questions and see if they might predict your ability to get a card. If they tell you it seems likely, then do the paperwork and let them make an inquiry. If your short history can be pitted against whatever history you have with your present CU and your utl is now very low, I'd bet my bottom dollar you could get a TL with your CU.
