Re: Target Card not VISA

Same thing happened to me when I was approved for my RedCrard. I was shopping at the store and got the $200 instant approval. I received a CLI to $500 in two months w/o requesting the increase. I sure do hope I get the instant upgrade as well. I love shopping at Target!

Re: Target Card not VISA

Pulled EQ for me as well, in FL. My score was around 670 and multiple (old) baddies, but got $500 Target Visa.

Re: Target Card not VISA

I just applied online and they said my application requires further reaserch. I guess that means NO. = (

If they pull equifax, I have a 616.

It doesn't mean a denial, necessarily.  It means exactly what it says.  Your application requires further research before a final decision can be made.

Re: Target Card not VISA

Just got the call to verify my info and I was approved for the $200 store card. Not great but I'll take it!

Re: Target Card not VISA

That is pretty typical.  I got one a couple of months ago for 200.  Some people have had great luck in getting CLI.  Good Luck!

Re: Target Card not VISA

Well, I spend at least $500 a month at Target. Mostly, it's groceries (I buy most of my dry goods like cereal, oatmeal, lunch snack products...and now, since my local Target has upgraded, certain dairy and frozen goods too). I've got growing kids, so I'll pick up stuff for them, or household products, etc.

I have had the card since 8/06. I too, got the pre-approval thing after I'd paid with my debit/credit card. I got $200. It's been that way since. I've pushed money through the card, enough to even get the 10% off coupon. I've PIF and I've left balances, just to see if they'd be nice to me.

they haven't.

Yesterday, I PIF the little $153 I had on there (I'd placed an online order for some summer items). Since I use other cards and my debit there most times...it'll just remain PIF for now.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to take it from my wallet.

What's in my wallet?? Certainly not my piddly Target card...though I must admit, that won't stop me from Target shopping.

I also have a Target card with a CL of $200. Strangely enough, I got approved right at the Target store when I happen to be purchasing something that day with my ATM. I found it strange but excited that I even got approved for a card even though it was $200! This was in Oct 06 and I've been using the card here and there since then. Maybe I'll try putting it away for a few months too and see what happens!

I was told it was like a semi annual or annual review to see which lucky redcard holders would get the coveted Visa

They just started a new policy in June of this year. They review every account monthly because their goal is to convert as many as possible over to the (dreaded high interest- I added that part) Visa. That is what I was told by customer service when I called to ask once again for a CLI. They don't take requests anymore. So I tried to circumvent the system and applied directly for a Visa and was, you guessed it, declined. I think somehow when you get on their bad side, you stay there forever. Just wish I knew what I did to get there. LOL

For me I think it was... opened the card, they increased my cl to $500 (back in '02, I was in college), I maxed it out and missed a payment, I paid off the card and asked them to decrease the cl to $100...... been there ever since, have a feeling I always will be Smiley Sad
