They just started a new policy in June of this year. They review every account monthly because their goal is to convert as many as possible over to the (dreaded high interest- I added that part) Visa. That is what I was told by customer service when I called to ask once again for a CLI. They don't take requests anymore. So I tried to circumvent the system and applied directly for a Visa and was, you guessed it, declined. I think somehow when you get on their bad side, you stay there forever. Just wish I knew what I did to get there. LOL

I found it strange but excited that I even got approved for a card even though it was $200! This was in Oct 06 and I've been using the card here and there since then. Maybe I'll try putting it away for a few months too and see what happens!
I was told it was like a semi annual or annual review to see which lucky redcard holders would get the coveted Visa
They pulled EQ on me. I live in WA state, but don't know if that makes a difference.

Brammy wrote:"I know you can request a CLI over the phone but didn't know about the monthly review for Visa status."_______________________________________________________________________They have changed their policy now. You cannot even request a CLI over the phone any longer. You only get a recording that says, "because we systematically evaluate accounts on a monthly basis, we no longer accept CLI requests over the phone or with an agent."

I got that receipt yesterday as well but I am curious to know how a soft pull was conducted whilst my groceries were being scanned.
Makes you wonder what's actually coded in that strip. A lot of companies will let you apply for credit by scanning another card in their card reader. hmmmmm!!! Inquiring minds want to know!!! LOL!!
