Re: Target Credit Card Question

My Ficos are: TU-707, EX-707, EQ-695
I did, however, have a discharged BK in 08/03 but have had perfect credit since then and only 1 inquiry was on either EX or EQ (cant rememer which now). I'm sure my scores will go down a bit from applying, but it will go back up again. Im so glad to get a card other than Orchard.

Re: Target Credit Card Question

What card you get with target seems to be where your dart lands on their large dart board. With an EQ FICO (they pulled EQ) score of 703, thick credit file, no lates/baddies and only a few inquiries all I managed to get approved for was a red card with a $200 CL. What a waste of an inquiry, I regret applying.

As it stands it's my lowest CL 15 times over. I received it a couple weeks ago and am probably going to cancel the stupid thing.

Target historically offers the RedCard at a low limit unless you have high scores in the 760s or above though recently the preapprovals instore have given lie to their normal practice.  The good news is that Target is known for converting to the Visa after 6-12 mos.

Re: Target Credit Card Question

Approach it as a step - it steps up to a target visa with proper use.

Re: Target Credit Card Question

Hmmm...

I just got declined for the Red Card a few weeks ago.

I'm rebuilding from old problems, and this was the first card that I finally decided to apply for. No dice. The main issue they listed was "no recent positives" (I have no revolving credit at all and no auto loans, mortgages, etc.) and "too many delinquents" (I have exactly 1 on my CR, and it's an error that I'm disputing.).

Hmmm... Maybe I'll hit target a lot soon. I haven't paid with my debit card there recently. I'll advise my boyfriend to do the same. Maybe I'll luck into one of those pre-approved, just in case they change their acceptance rules this time of year.

Er, Wally World???? I'll have to research that one.

Trying to avoid secured, if possible. Do you have rebuilder card suggestions?? I could use a few. Even just in-store credit with no card, as long as it reports SOMEWHERE.

Thanks!
