Target Debit gets HP?

Anyone know? I like the idea of 5% savings at Target. The debit version is fine. I have enough credit cards. But since it's just a debit, is there any inquiry? I'd like to think there isn't since there's really no risk for Target.

Re: Target Debit gets HP?

How do you figure there's no risk? They're letting you leave the store with merchandise and/or cash (you can get cash over) with the promise of a successful ACH debit. They are granting you credit until the ACH is successfully settled.

Re: Target Debit gets HP?

wouldn't the debit be denied if the funds weren't there? Maybe there's more involved than I am assuming. But I would think the you swipe, the money is debited. That's it. Maybe not?

Re: Target Debit gets HP?

I applied in January for their debit card (cause I read that users who had it for 6 months were approved for their store card later) and there was no HP nor SP.

Re: Target Debit gets HP?

thanks for the responses. It's a no brainer to have if you shop at target then. Not even a ding on the inquiries and you get 5% off.

Re: Target Debit gets HP?

So the target card, if I were actually a shopper of their store, would give me the ability to only pay 4.25% sales-tax, instead of our usual 9.25% Heck of a deal!

A 5% savings is still a 5% savings.

9.25%? Yikes...  Atleast the Target card would eliminate my 5% sales tax.

Re: Target Debit gets HP?

Yup! it's definitely a no brainer! I happen to have a family member that works there so I get 15% off thanks to the card! Smiley Wink
