Target MasterCard vs. basic RedCard: Still 5% at register?

Does anyone know how the 5% discount works with the Target MASTERCARD?  Does the 5% still come off at the register when you use the MasterCard (just like the normal RedCard), or does it accumulate like the 1% off outside purchases, to be paid in a gift card once a year?  If you don't get the 5% off at the register when Target upgades you to the MasterCard, I don't want the upgrade!

You still get the 5% off at the register. The only diffrence that i know of is that you can use it anywhere mastercard is accepted.
