Target Red Card

My first cc in about 20 years!  Smiley Happy  Got the store "pre-approval" and it went thru, frankly I was a little surprised Smiley Very Happy

Anyway, I didn't realize the ($140.00) purchase was going right on the card Smiley Surprised, kept checking my account and wondering why it wasn't showing up...

I don't have the card yet, just the reciept.  Is the account number on here somewhere?  I would like to be able to view (pay) this at their site.

The card isn't even here yet and the account is at 75% already!! Smiley Surprised  (assuming the CL is the usual whopping $200)

Help??

Re: Target Red Card

You should probably call customer care and find out what your status is. Try and pay down that balance before it reports, or the FICO scoring machine will rap your knuckles for that uti.

Re: Target Red Card

Ugg...
I just called customer service and they won't give me my account number.  I guess that's good for security reasons, but I can't make a payment without it Smiley Sad

Hope the card doesn't take too long to arrive Smiley Surprised

Re: Target Red Card

when i got it in the store, they maxed mine out- talk about killing utilization LOL  fortunately, the cc arrived within 1 week and I went online/paid it off to all but a $15 balance.  once you get the cc, go to 'manage my red card' (they should send you a link w/your card) and you can set up online billpay.  fyi, 1st payment did take awhile to post- about 2-3 days, so don't wait to pay until the day of/day before your statement due date.

Re: Target Red Card

Logged onto my account today and saw they increased my CL from $200 to $500.  Not a huge increase, but for Target that is a decent one.  I've had it for about 3 months.  Too bad I don't use it very often, I have 20k between my BoA CCs.

Exactly Smiley Surprised

I will be paying this the day it arrives Smiley Wink

Should I PIF or leave $5-15 on it.  Don't need the card (or any cards, but don't have any others, lol) just trying to improve the "score"

Not even sure if I should use the card at all after I pay it off, for increasing the numbers...

Re: Target Red Card

I wanted to have it report some balance on my reports, so that is why I left $15 on it....beats having it report 200 bal on 200 CL lol  of course the 15 will be paid off by the due date (1st statement has not cut yet).  there are different stories about how to use the target red- there is a possibility it may convert to a regular visa, but not guaranteed.  Some people say you should use it a lot (like cap 1), some say carry a small balance, some say use it rarely.  Seems like there is no rhyme or reason as to who gets upgraded to a target visa.

Personally, I do not plan to use mine a lot, but that is mainly b/c I do not really shop @ target a ton…I just happened to be there buying a wii + wii fit to resell and bam, the Red card offer came up, so I took it.  if I’m @ target again, I may use the red card just to give it ‘use’ in hopes target thinks I love them and they’ll eventually upgrade me to a real visa.

I got it not b/c of the fabulous CL (lol), but to diversify my tradelines as currently, the only ‘open’ accts I have are ccs, most of which are subprime (first premier, orchard) and supposedly, diversified tradelines helps get you some fico love.

Re: Target Red Card

Hi, did you have to call or was it just automatic.  Next month I will have had the target card for 3 months so hopefully I will see an increase, if not I am calling to call target just to see what the response will be about a cli.  I think this particular card company gives people the run around for cli even like me a good customer and pay multiple times a month on the account.  But congrats on your cli.

Target does not give cardholder-requested CLI.  It's not likely you'll see an auto-CLI at only three months, either.  Calling won't do any good.

Do a search for "Target CLI".  Lots of good info there.
