Target Red Card

Hello all. Just a PSA about target red card.
They are forgiving and easy approval. That said i applied in late Oct and got approved. I applied just to have a open line of creidt with a zero balance to help off set my current credit card usage. I filed bankruptcy in 2017 after a divorce started to rebuild with the bad credit cards like Indigo and Total visa however after one year i closed them out as Cap one approved me for a unsecured card.
Back to Target card i was approved and got it in the mail first week of nov. I activated it and put it in my safe unused. I look at all my cards each week to check balance and payoff. Looking at Target red card it had a 471 balance!!! Some how someone got my red card number and made a online purchase just 2 weeks after it was activated. I called them as soon as i seen it it was still pending. They are supposed to send me paper work to file a fraud report and a new card. I do not plan on activating the new card amd once the fraud part is taken care of closing it out.
I never used my card online or in store. All i did was activate it and sign up for online card management. I have since deleted my online account. Has anyone else had this happen? Will this fraud affect my credit?

Re: Target Red Card

It sound as if maybe your email has been compromised rather than the online account. With your email they could gain access to to some of the emails they send you and adding it to an online account with the card number.

Re: Target Red Card

I have also changed my email password before this happend. I never did get a email from target with an order confirmation. Figured they would send one once an order was placed. I would think all they would have to do is check the delivery address with the address on file. After their breach in 2013 i would think there would be more security on their site.
