Has anybody else heard of this? Apparently if you apply for a Target card and you don't qualify for the Target Visa, Target runs a second hard pull to attempt to qualify you for a store only card. Can they legally do this without making it clear to you before hand that they may run two different credit checks for two different cards? I know that some lenders will pull from more than one CB, but if thats the case then shouldn't it show up on a report as the same lender?
For that matter, can a Credit Card company do multiple hard pulls on you for the same product in a short span of time (like a month or less)?
I don't know, but I had the same thing happen to me at Ashley Furniture--they use two different banks. I guess it is in the fine print.
As an aside, I can't tell you how thrilled I was with the $500 limit on the account for my TWO hard pulls. (Insert sarcasm). Especially since it is a GEMB account and I have been very good with GEMB.
On the other hand, it saved me from spending a fortune on furniture. LOL.
