Hi all,
I had a question im stuck in the target 200 limit hell. I got the standard well put you on the review list comment from customer service. Do you think if I closed the target card then waited a couple of months and open a new one I would get a higher limit or the same? anyone try that? I have the debit card so its not like I will be missing out on the 5% when I shop there and I shop there ALOT. I see some of the new people who appd for the card were getting 3k limits and I was just curious. My credit score is 695, 696, 680 so I dont think ill have an issue getting approved again. My husband applied when I did years ago and his score was 780 and he still got a $200 credit limit he was pissed lol (hurt his ego hes used to 10k and up limits lol) im thinking about having him do the same.
The real question is why go to the trouble. They obviously don't care about their customers, the're are people that have had CL of less than $500 for 4+ years. Yet the price of their merchandise goes up they give us less and less buying power.
At least my local Target stores have been getting worse in Customer Service skills, I see no reason to buy online, Amazon routinely beats there prices. If they won't value me at a customer I will find another vendor that will.

I recently spoke with a CSR about a CLI and it seems that you have to update your income information in order to be put into their "monthly review" for increase. If your income has not changed since your application, you will be stuck with that inital credit limit. I updated my income information with them and the CSR said that my account is now added into the review process they apparently conduct monthly. I will wait it out and see what happens in 30 days and see if I get an increase. I have not seen a SP on any report from Target yet... fingers crossed.
So yeah, if you have never called and updated your info with them and have not requested to be reviewed for a CLI, you will never be given an increase. A cumbersome method of rewarding good customers, but it is what it is. Give it a try and see what happens in 30 days or so.

I have no idea why an income of $80,000 a year won't justify more than a $200 CL, its just beyond me. Oh well, hope it enjoys its life in the sock drawer, not calling in to update anything, they either SP like my other lenders and reward my payment history or it dies in the drawer.
I like them for some things even though there prices are high you can price match with walmart atleast thats what I always do in the store.
Yup they told me the same thing they had my last reported income from 5 years ago and it has drastically went up I updated so fingers crossed!

Great info. Maybe I'll finally be able to escape $200 hell. Thanks!

I wonder if Target's U/W department is stuck in the 60's.....When $200 was a Mortgage payment.
My mom opened her target card 4 months ago with an initial CL of $500 and just last week they sent a letter stating her new CL of $1000. This has been kinda popular on the forums, so maybe re-applying for a card would help then again I find that like a waste of AAOA, and new inquiry, Thats my opinion...
