If you SD it they might lower the toy store CL even lower. That's what happened to me, I got a $1k SL used it a bit and then SD'd it for 8 mos and they lowered the CL to only $200. I'm the opposite of you, Walmart is 20 minutes away, nearest Target one hour, so I used it almost entirely online. I had to PIF before statement because even a $50 pair of boots put me at 25% util. I called and rep said my CL had been lowered because of "inactivity" but she would 'mark it for review'. That was a year ago. So I called and closed back in Feb. Rep asked why and I told her my Walmart card has a $5k CL, and target's $200 CL is insulting & useless. Rep got testy and told me if I close the account I can never ever get another Target CC. I told her "Great, sounds good to me!". Close this POS and move on, it's very satisfying. I thought I might get the Redcard debit card for the 5% discount & free shipping with no minimum amount of order, but so far I haven't bothered - after their data breach I'm not sure I want them to have my bank account #..
@Joeliz27 wrote:hi all ,
so I waited to see my statement day cut to see if I get an auto cli since I had this card for the past 6 or 7 month , and nothing still at $300 I shop frequent Pif and nothing my balance is 0 my credit has gone up since I open the card and nada zero , I'm thinking of closing it. So dissapointed
I echo the poster who recommended that you call Customer Service and let them know you would like your card to be considered for a CLI? After I did this, I received a $500 CLI on my next statement and see that they also soft pulled this month (although no result).
Making the request that you be put in the consideration cycle seems to be the only thing that makes them move.
I apped for a Target Debit Card online 3 days ago and was able to make a purchase online upon approval and got free shipping plus 5% off. I think it's a viable alternative to their CC or even the Sallie Mae MC. The only problem is they take their sweet time to ACH the money out of your account, which could potentially result in overdraft fees for some people.
Target have not given me a single CLI in 4 years. My sinature says it all.
Are you serious? I have had walmart for 1 1/2 years still no CLI started at 700.00

And the prepaid Redcard is an even better alternative

Use the chat feature or call credit solutions and ask for an increase to $5k.

Three words for you:
1998
Still $200
I agree with B335is. I received my first CLI after 18 years.
