I think that paying them in full real quick gets their attention.  That is the game plan I am going to use when I eventually use the card this upcoming Feb. ( I have it but I have not used it yet).  Congrats on the CLI.  And remember, keep the utilization down.

Re: Target

Have you given them a call???  If so, they most likely read the script from the "CSR for Dummies" handbook.

Yep.  I had a whole thread on the issue, and you asked me the same thing there. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Target

Hi All, This is my first post here. I have been an avid reader for some time now and decide to join in all the fun. Wanted to touch base on this topic and let you know that I have had the Target RedCard since 2.2007.

I received the "Pre-Approved" receipt like most others at a time when I could use some non-secured credit to help re-build. I still have the account and it is still at the original CL of $200. I have PIF each month since obtaining the credit and never been late or missed a payment. Being fed up with the situation I crafted this message and sent via the online mail system on target.com

-----------------------

I have had this card over one year. I am aware it is your policy to not accept or process any requests for a CLI, but I would like to understand why after 12 months of history, where most payments have been in full, you are still unable to raise the credit limit or convert the account to a Target Visa Account. I can tell you that this low CL has deferred business to other retailers who for example give ample credit to loyal customers, to cite an example, Costco was kind enough to issue an AMEX with a $2000 CL, you can be sure that they have picked up what could have been some of your net revenue. Reply if you will, but please don't waste your time with generic script driven responses. If you send me a generic message I will close this account, as that would indicate you have not read my message or just don't care to earn my business. Cheers,

-----------------------

Maybe this will get their attention, but I sincerely doubt it. I WAS a Target fan, they are fundamentally a good company and I wanted to support that. I have now moved over to Costco with the AMEX True Earnings Card.

I will keep you posted of any responses I receive in connection with the above. Thanks for all the great reading for the past few months.

Hi, CreditSuperStar, and welcome to the FICO Forums!

Great letter!  Please do keep us informed.  I'm very interested in hearing what sort of response you get.  I predict you'll get the standard "Target does not accept customer-intitiated credit limit increase requests, blah, blah, blah,"  which is unfortunate.

I love my Target card but I am still stuck at $200 as well, and I'm in my 8th statement cycle.  I have tried everything.  Made purchases and paid in full for four months in a row, sock drawered the thing, carried a balance, etc, etc.  Nothing seems to get their attention.

On top of that, my EX report, which they soft often, is completely clean now with a score of 737.  Yet I'm still not getting any love.

Please let us know what happens!

Re: Target

And the much anticipated reply.

------------------------------

I'm sorry that you not happy with the credit limit of your Target Credit Card(SM), MY NAME HERE. As you know, I'm not able to manually make changes to your credit limit or submit your account for review. Our decisions about your account and your credit limit are based on your credit bureau score and your account history. You may want to contact the credit bureaus to see what your report contains. If you have more questions, please call us at (888) 755-5856. We're here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Regards, Shawn Manage My REDcard

------------------------------

I must say, they did not use a canned reply, but nonetheless, thay are the weakest card and must be canceled. Nice knowing you Target, it was great while is lasted, please no hard feelings, we just grew apart... it happens. Good luck out there.

Re: Target

Well, that's a shame.  Sorry to hear that.  It was worth a shot, though, and you made a good effort.

Re: Target

My third statement just cut...$200 cli.  Smiley Happy  So $300 - $500....

I think it's because it sees a lot of action.  Last week I was declined because I was over-the-limit by $1 or so, I ended up using my debit card.

This week, cli of $200

I do purchase all of my pet food/litter, households, books, wine, pop, etc there.  Possibly that made the difference?
