Target

I know 5 people that have Target cards and this past week 4 of them got auto CLI's from $1000 to $4000 and the 5th person has to many lates payments. They took my brother from $1000 to $5000 but didn't upgrade his store card to the Visa. We got r cards at the same time and he's up to $5000 and I'm still at $500. He never shops at Target and I havn't used my card in like 6 Months. I decided to go buy something today to keep the card active and the cashier ask me if I wanted to apply for a CLI and I said no because I'm not trying to get another inquiry for nothing.

Re: Target

WOW never heard of the cashier asking if you would like to apply for a CLI.  Interesting

Re: Target

I know it is hard trying to figure out what some of the CC companies want.  I spoke with a Targe rep yesterday who said they look at usages (they want it to be on the high end), balances (they want you to carry them over sometimes), and credit score (could not say what they are looking for here) in order to give a CLI.  Sometimes it is a catch 22, especially with this credit crunch.  Some say use, use, use.... but then when you do.. they see that as an indication that you are credit-desperate and a risk.  Go figure!

I think the biggest thing with usage is not going outside average spending habits, usually this sets an alarm off. If you normally dont use a lot its going to set off a flag for AA possibly.
