Tempted to App

Hi Everyone,

I have not got a new credit card in over 2 years, but I'm getting kinda itchy to apply for one now - not sure if this is a good idea?

I LOVE 0% intro's more than anything else - and I don't have any of those at the moment.

My score is 760-780, depending on which file you pull, around 6 years average age, $69,000 in available credit, with reletively low balance, I have NEVER missed, or been late with a payment. Also have a loan for my truck, boat and camper.

Looking at Freedom Unlimited, because of the 15 Months 0% - figuring that I could then transfer my CL from my Slate ($0 bal) to it

Any Better Choices That I Don't Know Of?

Thanks All - Have A GREAT Day!

Re: Tempted to App

I think Citi has a 21 mo 0% BT card, but the FU would be more useful after the BT period expires. Disco usually offers a 14-15 & some 18 mo BT at 0% and are useful afterwards as well.

Re: Tempted to App

Which cards do you have currently? Just the Chase Slate and Discover it? Why are you specifically looking for a 0% APR card?

How much is your balance?  What cards do you have now?  Which of them have balances?

Daily Carry: PenFed Power Cash • NFCU Flagship • NFCU More Rewards • Chase Freedom
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure

Re: Tempted to App

You can get multiple Discover cards (even the same ones) and have intro offers on the new card even if you already have another one.

Also, unfortunately, intro 0% offers are just that, intro offers. If you want to churn them (at least the well known ones), you will probably need to start closing some of your SDed cards or less frequently used cards or PC them to something else. For instance, Citi has great intro offers on the Simplicity and the DP which aren't really great for much else. So most people PC their DP after the intro offers are up so that they can apply for it again down the road. You can't PC the Simplicity. Same with the Slate, many people either PC or combine it into something else.

Re: Tempted to App

Thanks for the input, I already have a pretty generous limit with Disco, don't want to push it too far lol. Already have 2 Citi cards so just thinking of another Chase one to level it up to 2 each, kinda apprehensive to spoil my 2 years in the garden, not even looked at other cards for this time - but i'm not needing any credit any time soon, so it probably won't hurt me much, if, at all. Thanks Again Smiley Wink

Re: Tempted to App

If you have a good relationship with Discover, hit them up on chat and ask if your account has any promo offers. It's been documented here that you can get up to 12 months 0% on existing accounts if you ask.
