3.) According to FICO scoring, it doesn't matter who closed the account or how it's notated. It's not going to prevent someone from getting approved for credit cards as long as the closed account has no baddies and a $0 balance. The only negative I see might be on a manual review and a lender having questions.

This is a good explanation Montana.

Re: The AMEX Financial Review Thread

My guess is best to keep Amex credit lines "in line" with other cards. If your other cards show credit lines of $5000, keep your Amex around there or lower. Fight the urge to get LUV. Might help you stay under the radar.

Can everyone who got hit with an F/R check their Experian CR to see if there were any unusual soft hits from Amex just before please. Thanks.

Re: The AMEX Financial Review Thread

Is it still ok to convert delta amex to blue at activation? Shouldn't trigger anything, right?

Re: The AMEX Financial Review Thread

I would also like to know the answer to the question about converting from Delta to Blue, except I did not do it at activation but I am thinking about requesting the conversation.  Could this possibly cause an fr?

Does anyone know for sure if you want to cancel when Amex has requested a fr they will not allow you to cancel?  Can they legally do that?  Deny to close your account because you do not want to give them your personal financials?  Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Makes sense that they could though I don't know why they would just posts from other people saying Amex adv they could not close the accounts because they had already been frozen for F/R.  Maybe a bully tactic to get some to cooperate, just not sure.

Re: The AMEX Financial Review Thread

Another possible tip for avoiding an F/R. Inquiries and New Accounts. Amex watches EVERY HARD INQ on Experian. I am willing to bet, less people are getting hit for F/Rs with no new EX inq's. Even if you get them removed, Amex sees the initial hit. They are watching.

Re: The AMEX Financial Review Thread

Just remember that as the consumer--hopefully a consumer with low balances--you bat last. AMEX can watch you like a hawk and do an FR because you charged two Slurpees in one day...but you as the consumer can tell them to go take a hike. Yours is the final--and deciding--vote.

And let me reiterate I'm not categorically opposed to FRs. If you have a $50,000 line of credit and you hit $42,820 and you've revolved a high balance for three or four months, I could understand an FR. Your behavior would then be questionable, and $50K isn't chump change. It's the $2000 or $5000 CL with a balance of $431 that I think is ridiculous to do an FR on, and that is an unconvenience "up with which I would not put."

Re: The AMEX Financial Review Thread

i haven't recieved my card yet...I called to close the account.  That is to much BS to go through for a CC when I'd rather pay cash anyway and already have cards i use that I like. They told me that I had to call to activate the card cefore i cancel.  That's is BS in my book.  I cancel two accounts before recieving the cards,
