It's not going to prevent someone from getting approved for credit cards as long as the closed account has no baddies and a $0 balance. The only negative I see might be on a manual review and a lender having questions.

Could this possibly cause an fr?Does anyone know for sure if you want to cancel when Amex has requested a fr they will not allow you to cancel? Can they legally do that? Deny to close your account because you do not want to give them your personal financials? Thanks in advance for the feedback.
Makes sense that they could though I don't know why they would just posts from other people saying Amex adv they could not close the accounts because they had already been frozen for F/R. Maybe a bully tactic to get some to cooperate, just not sure.

Another possible tip for avoiding an F/R. Inquiries and New Accounts. Amex watches EVERY HARD INQ on Experian. I am willing to bet, less people are getting hit for F/Rs with no new EX inq's. Even if you get them removed, Amex sees the initial hit. They are watching.
Now THAT's a scary thought!!!!!
