But my rotten, hideous teeth need about 30k worth of work (unless I just get dentures at 35 years old!)
So, in reality, I feel like I'm worse off than anyone in this thread.
I did just get a $5k CareCredit card. I'll probably max that sucker out in one sitting.
Sigh...
Are you near a dental school? Most major universities have a dental school who can do a compassionate care program for free or MASSIVELY reduced cost. With your income, you'll definitely qualify. Might be worth investigating. Best of luck to you. My husband had really bad teeth issues when we met too, and we were lucky enough to have dental coverage, but it was still painful and time consuming. The good news is his teeth weren't quite as bad as they originally thought, and now they're nice and healthy.

Baylor is the closest, maybe 125 miles away. I looked into that over a decade ago and from what I recall there was a really long wait time; so I just sort of gave up. And now, I think I'm past the point of no return on this. I let it go for too long and they're just too far gone. But I don't want to hijack this thread with my pity party.

I guess I would have an unfair advantage. I went from 9K cc debt last June to now only 900 remaining. 1 more month and I am paid out. ![]()

Well, teeth are really important. Forget every other saying you've heard: Healty teeth, healthy life. Really important!
Call Baylor again and see how the wait is now. There may be a new dental school closer to you. The dentist might even be willing to cut you a deal, or know of a fund program that could help out. The dentist might even let you make payments. If s/he won't, the s/he is a jerk and you should find a dentist who will.
We got some help with our dog through some charities years ago when she had some major health issue. It got expensive fast, and it snuck up on us.

I'm new and I saw this thread and made an account just to encourage everyone. I paid off all my debt by January of 2014. I had approximately $8000 of debt between my 2 cards and after I paid it off my credit went from 667 to 783. I hope this encourages you all to show you how much good it can do to pay off the debt. Also, it shows that using the revolving credit AND paying it off, even if it is a bit late, can be a good thing and doesn't have to be a death sentence for your credit. Hope this encourages you all!

I used to work at the UT Houston dental school and they are reasonable and the clinics are first come first serve in the morning. They open at 7:00a. I am not sure how far away this is from you, but it might be an option.
