Re: The NEW Shared Barclay CLD Sharing Time

Here's a post for Chase about a Chase Card holder who got closed (does that mean Chase is Sensitive too????) http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/1182490/

Or is it just nice to point out Barclay only does it???

It seems like the ones that were closed were used to churn. Note the 50K investment funding and the similarities to those who got their AARP card closed during the 5% CB period.

Re: The NEW Shared Barclay CLD Sharing Time

I opened up my first Barclay Rewards card a year ago. During the first 3 months of opening, I also opened 5 other credit cards.

3 months ago I opened my 2nd Barclay card (US Airways), I also opened AMEX, BofA, and Chase at the same time.

So far, all is good in the Barclay World. :-)

Re: The NEW Shared Barclay CLD Sharing Time

My theory regarding Barclay and AAs is that yes, new accounts may spook them, but it needs to be in combination with other red flags (high utilization, lates, charge offs, etc) for them to take action against an account. I think there's a much bigger picture as to why they close accounts than what is mentioned on the forum.

Hi blk8....So far so good! I say nothing to worry about there. So far so good, just like most Barclay card members usually say...it's just the couple of members who get CLD'd speak out the loudest.   BTW, I love my Discover It card you helped me get!

Re: The NEW Shared Barclay CLD Sharing Time

I opened up Barclays in September 2012.  Since that time I have 12 new accounts after them.  I had read about the infamous "closure of accounts" issue so I was a little leery of what might happen but I took my chances anyway.

I always PIF with them for the first year.  It also took well over a year before they gave me an auto CLI.  I just got another auto CLI in January bringing the CL to $3300, which is okay considering how I *heard* how they operate.

3 days ago I applied for the Sallie Mae MC and instant approval for $5K.  So for me, nothing bad happened besides not getting my card up to a CL that *I* prefer...LOL!

Now, only more time will tell if they will just ignore me or give me the boot.

Another satisfied Barclay Customer and his 2nd card, Barclay gave him the famous Sallie Mae MC even after 12 new accounts!!! Great job...BTW, so far no one has come forward to share their own Barclay CLD, closed account or any AA... hmmmmm still waiting

Re: The NEW Shared Barclay CLD Sharing Time

Just today, one of my hero's here on this forum had his CHASE CREDIT CARDS CLOSED for too much new credit.....HIS BARCLAY CARD THAT HE HAS, HAS NOT!

HIS BARCLAY CARD IS STILL ALIVE......here's the post

Well I just found out this morning that most of my Chase CCs were closed after a periodical review.

Not pissed off or anything, was just a little surprised initially that Chase will take AA against me instead of Barclays. Called in and talked to a lender, and he explained the reasons behind the closure. Basically I had too many recent inquiries (14 on EX in the past 12 months; several due to auto lease and loan), and obtained too much credit over the past year. Both valid reasons. Asked if they could reopen, and he said not right now, but I can call in to have them review it again within 90 days from the date the last payment is made on the account. However, they seemed to have left my Palladium alone for some reason, even though they're all underwritten and managed by the same department, I think. The card didn't appear as closed on the website, and I didn't want to raise anymore issues by asking about the Palladium card.

Re: The NEW Shared Barclay CLD Sharing Time

Vegas, do you work for Barclays Bank Delaware? Cat Tongue Anyway this thread seems really unusual. This forum has reports of every issuer taking AA but does seem to have more Barclays related stories. Besides even if no one posts it doesn't mean anything, perhaps those that meet your criteria don't want to share their experience or haven't seen the thread.
