Can someone explain why everyone is on Barclay's tip? They seem awfully finicky, without a lot of benefits to back it up.just saying.....
For me, they have had very nice CS. I'd like a Barclay's reward card, but also like the idea of a low % card to have as a backup. They aren't that finicky. They gave me my highest CL at the time in November, after a recon call. They seem to give rebuilders a chance w/o high AFs and with decent CLs.
They just don't like to see people getting too much credit at once because it's a red flag for them. It does appear this "Ring" card has somewhat higher standards than other cards, like the Apple, which a lot of us have.
i have two chase accounts and it doesnt affect me for approving at Barclays ring for 5k starting limit.

That's good to know. ![]()
I can't wait for my statements to cut so I can app!
Just applied, got the 10 day message. Recon will have to wait until monday ![]()
From my observations from this forum and doing a recon I get the feeling that I could have said that I was a 2" tall green alien (not to be confused with the GEICO lizard) and was seeking to get the card after an initial denial due to being from the planet Pluto and I still would have gotten this card unless I had red flags on my credit report.
You know how you get "call to inquire" marketing info? It's like the app process is a front-end just to establish a relationship but they already know they're going to approve your failed app unless you have a blaring fault in your credit record. At least that was my impression from the questions I got asked on recon. It was basically an inevitable progression to approval where you picture a rep with a headset muting you while carrying on a conversation with the guy in the next cubicle about what their plans are this weekend. Takes you off mute and Boom! "you're approved". I'm in no way complaining in the least! =)
Does anyone know if Barclay's have a time requirement for a current Barclay's CC before getting a new one with them?

Got a lecture about them wanting to see some 6 - 12 month history on my Apple card before raising my limit (which I didn't ask for anyway).
I did preface my phone app by asking if they would have issue with an existing new card with them and they stated that they didn't (but I don't know how much a CSR would know about that). I got the impression with her usage of the word "them" and "they" that Barclaycard utilizes a vendor to take their phone apps.

I got approved despite only having 4 months with an existing card. I have no baddies & PIF faithfully with all my cards. 3-something percent usage across all my accounts.
Here's what my history looked like at the time:
Late Dec 2011: Qualified for Barclaycard Finance card
January: Qualified for Chase Freedom Card
February: Qualified for a CareCredit line to have Lasik done (paid off within the month)
Mid-February: Qualified for a Citi Platinum Select
Mid-February: Applied for Amex Blue Cash - Denied
Mid-March: Applied for Chase Ink - Denied
April 2nd: Qualified for Amex CLEAR
April 3rd:Applied for Barclaycard Rewards Mastercard - Denied
April 20th: Qualified for Barclaycard Ring (AFTER RECON)
This thread is slowly getting off topic. This is supposed to be exclusively about the Barclay Ring card. Not about any other Barclay product or other companies.
Out of respect to the OP let's back on topic please.
I'm really interested in the Ring for the APR and that it's a MasterCard (so far I only have Visa's and Discover). Problem is my oldest account (student loan) is about 9-10 months and my credit cards (going on 5 months). Once I hit the 6 month mark on my credit cards and a year on the student loan what are my chances? My EQ FICO is 683 last I checked with 2-3 inquiries on all reports but most will be 6-12+ months. How long would I need wait to try for it?
