Within the past few years, has anyone on the forum experienced AA/RJ/CLD, etc. as a a result of calling a cc lender to ask about availablity of account promotions such as lower APR, CLI, or similar activity? I know that cc lenders were big on this during and for some time after CARD Act was implemented, hopefully now less so though? The reason I ask is b/c to this day b/c of CARD Act, I am still a little leery about calling issuers and asking for promotions, for fear of potential AA. As a datapoint, as recently as about 2 years ago when I called BoA to ask for any eligibility on APR reductions, I was instead given a significant CLD on 2 of my BoA card accounts (thankfully they did not attempt to close down the cards or RJ me however). Or now that CARD Act is already some years behind us, is there largely no longer any reason to worry about AA when calling cccs to ask about account promotions?
I think it depends on what you have been doing. In the MS world, a key rule is to avoid "eyes on the account" at all costs, because when someone looks at it they may notice a lot of suspicious charges (multiples of $50X.95 at drug stores and supermarkets for example) and take action. If your spending is all good, I don't think you have anything additional to fear from calling, anything like late payments etc, are already noted in the automated systems.
