Thin File new card suggestions

Checked Amex and Discover prequal sites and was pre-approved for Discover IT, Miles, Amex Every Day, Blue Cash, and Blue Delta.  No other cards on my file, but one Student loan.  Which do you think I would have the best odds of being approved for?  Thanks in advance for the advice.  If there is another card that would be more suitable or better please let me know.  Thanks again

Scores:

Experian - 713

Equifax - 735

Transunion - 713

Aaoa - 14 yrs

I would pick one of each lender and go for it.  There's no 100% answer but, pick the card you WANT and not he one offered.

There's 3 versions of Disco and 18 of Amex https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/?category=all  -- go here in incognito/private mode for a higher bonus offer though than what's available through a normal browser session.

Re: Thin File new card suggestions

Do not let pre-approvals drive what you apply for.

If you fly Delta could apply for Delta Gold and downgrade to Blue if Gold no longer makes sense after the coming refresh.

Discover and Amex Everyday are both fine no fee choices as well.

The 5% cash back for Amazon for this quarter can increase value of Discover if you get a discover that has revolving categories.

Comments presumes scores you cited are some form of Fico 8.

Depends on if you're dedicated to one carrier or hotel chain or if you're agnostic and open to choice.

Frequently to some people is 1-2 times a year and others it's weekly.

Some Amex cards like the gold have no FTF, but the problem is that both Amex and Discover are not that popular outside the US.

If you fly then consider Amex gold, otherwise check other Visa or MC.

Do you have BofA account?

Current open cards:
Schwab Amex Platinum (NPSL); Amex Gold (NPSL); HH Aspire ($31,700); Amex BBP ($27,000); HSBC Premier WMC ($21,500); USB Altitude Reserve ($20,000); USB Altitude Reserve ($10,000); WF Bilt MC ($9,400); Chase Freedom ($7,300), BofA Premium Rewards ($5,000); Apple Card ($4,750); BofA Alaska Visa ($4,200); USB Altitude Go ($1,000)

I do not have Bofa. I usually go with whatever is cheaper for flying. I would say for hotels, I lean towards Marriott properties. Just want to pick a card I would most likely get approved approved for.

Re: Thin File new card suggestions

I would say go with Amex Gold maybe. Just make sure that you can use the statement credit to justify the AF. It's a charge card so it's easier to get approved for. I was approved for the card without a FICO score even. Just make sure you find an online referral to get the 50k offer.

If you feel you can really justify it, try applying for the platinum.

Re: Thin File new card suggestions

If this is your first credit card, keep in mind that your starting limits may be low and you'll probably need to work your way up. The preapprovals from Discover & Amex are good signs that you'll be approved, so it comes down to what kind of rewards you'd like. I personally love Discover, especially the first year. If you can see yourself benefitting from AMEX, they are also a great card issuer to deal with. You're not limited to just one card either, so why not apply for both? Then in 6 to 12 months, go for a Visa or MC. My advice is to get the hang of using credit cards first and work on your limits, and you'll be able to be more selective after your first year.
